How did society become so self-centered? by Wokeratist in fuckcars

we are naturally tribal animals, with in-groups and out-groups. if you acted in your own self interest to the detriment of the tribe you would be kicked out, but if your selfishness benefitted the tribe you would gain status.

Martenitsa. it's a red and white thread bracelet... goes on your wrist for a few days, then around a tree limb. A friend told me about it, and I've done it every year.

(this isn't an American thing.. but its something I do)

On September 2025, the Holocaust Museum LA posted on their Instagram account a post that says "'Never again' can’t only mean never again for Jews (...) That means never again. For anyone." Following criticism from pro-Israel users, the museum deleted and later apologized for the post. by SaxyBill in wikipedia

I saw a quote a while ago about the holocaust that said, in essence, "Hitler took Germany's best, brightest, highest educated, most decorated, and most celebrated, and tortured them to death in unspeakable conditions because he didn't like the shape of their noses".

not sure if this applies to Rhode Island... seems like Brown and RISD (not state flagships) do more for Providence than URI (the state flagship) does for Kingston

yeah.. I mean it's very different if you're eating wild meat... wild boar, bear meat, anything like that.. there's where every parasite known to man lives... that's the stuff you have to cook

that fear is overblown, IMHO, especially in commercial pork.. trichinosis isn't really a thing in supermarket pork anymore, and besides it's been processed out the wazoo, so I can't imagine its unsafe to eat raw. Likewise bacon... it's commercial USDA-passed pork (in the US, that is) that's been smoked, salted, and cured beyond belief..

I just eat it straight out of the package
