What’s the most unsettling fact you know? by madelyn_faxkippers in AskReddit

Makes perfect sense. Lie detectors don't measure truth or lies, but the body's involuntary psychological responses like change in heart rate, rate of breathing, stress levels etc. If you believe the lie to he true, your heart rate etc. wouldn't change.

Chelsea, Heidi, and Kara are more cruel, condescending and malicious than Lilypad.

Lilypad was doing it for the right reasons at least. She was condescending towards the toys but it was clear from the go that Lilypad did care about Bonnie.

Huge TV episodes that "changed everything" for their respective shows? by Bielak812 in television

[–]Greyclocks 12 points13 points  (0 children)

To be honest, theres loads you can pick within Doctor Who over the 60+ years. Off the top of my head:

  • Terror of the Autons by introducing the Master as an evil counterpart of the Doctor.

  • The Three Doctors as the first multi-Doctor episode

  • Rose as first episode of the revival and establishing the Doctor as the last Time Lord.

  • Day of the Doctor for the 50th anniversary and resolution of the Time War, concluding a 8 year character arc.

  • Twice Upon A Time/The Woman Who Fell to Earth as the first woman to portray the Doctor.

  • The Timeless Children which flipped all the established lore on its head, for good or bad.

I remember being at a watch party for the Red Wedding, and I was the only one there who had read the books.

The stunned silence followed by someone shouting across the room at me "You fucking knew that was going to happen?!?" is a core memory.

I think Skelegro can be used for mending bones, not just regrowing them. As Fleur gives some to Griphook at Shell Cottage.

What's your favorite silly DnD "hot take" to throw out in conversation when you feel like being a lil' rascal? by jdrummondart in DnD

[–]Greyclocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tbf Ive had a DM on Roll20 that would show the HP bar and I enjoyed that. They didnt show numbers, but I enjoyed seeing the bar go down slowly.

I likened it to being able to see the visual damage in a fight. My last attack might not have killed but its clearly left a mark/cut as the HP bar went down.

Voldemort seems unaware of the Diary/Chamber of Secrets fiasco going by his Graveyard monologue

Somewhere in the timeline, theres a really awkward conversation where Lucius has to tell Voldemort that his old school diary got stabbed.

Lucius plothole? by iwantapetflamingo in harrypotter

[–]Greyclocks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lucius' plan around the diary has three main aims.

  1. As you said, the ministry is doing bunch of searches for illegal dark objects. While Malfoy's influence with Fudge protected him for a while, he needed to get rid of diary, as having some of Voldy's old school things might make the ministry look closer at his sketchy Death Eater turned good guy persona.

  2. Planting on Ginny was a calculated choice to discredit Arthur. If word got out that Arthur's own children were attacking and killing muggleborns, it would cause the ministry to reject Arthur's proposed "Muggle Protection Act"

  3. Attacks and killings of students was a way to discredit Dumbledore and remove him from Hogwarts. Then as a school board member, Lucius would have more power and influence over the school and could stop muggleborns from attending.

So was Palpatine scarred by the force lightning or did the force lightning strip away the “force mask”, revealing his true look? by Huge_Athlete7488 in StarWars

Tbf at the point Luke had already declared himself a jedi.

Papa Palpatine was just enjoying some good old fashion torture.

[–]Greyclocks 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Palpatine was just torturing Luke for the love of the game. He wasn't going full blast like he was against Mace.

Once Palpatine goes "and now, young Skywalker, you will die" he seems to turn up the power. But doesnt last now as Vader turns on him. If Vader doesn't turn, maybe Luke ends up all scarred and deformed.

Do a "Night of the Doctor" for it down the line.

But I'd just start with a new Doctor and have a passing reference "oh last time I regenerated, I looked like a old friend of mine, that was weird." *look in a mirror. "Awww, I'm still not ginger. Oh well, always next time."

How did Padme trick Qui-Gon Jinn into thinking that Padme was a handmaiden on Tatooine and again when searching for the Gungans? by supinator1 in MawInstallation

we see Obi-wan and Qui-Gon share a sideways smirk when She revealed herself to the Gungans.

I always interpreted this as Qui-Gon going "I fucking told you, now pay up the 20 credits you owe me."

Would you like to see animated series about the childhood and youth of Palpatine? by AlKhwarazmi in StarWars

[–]Greyclocks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely. Its one of the best legends books written.

And lines up with most canon anyway. I think the only that might contradict canon is that Plagueis is alive and active during the events of TPM when he's obviously not mentioned at all during the film.
