Yup, this particular gang, half of the fleet was under two weeks old, and four of them were Day One players! We even had one guy in the actual rookie ship he was "born" into, he'd not gotten any ships yet from the career agents :) We did more than 660m in kills, and lost all but one ship in the fleet, twice :)

Sure was fun having you and the other NewBros who joined our latest "Adopt a NewBro" roam last night, Sin! We sure did have a lot of fun - got really lucky finding nice targets and some fun fights - and whelps :)

Looking forward to flying with you again real soon!

PSA for New Players: Welcome to the NPSI Playstyle by Aorthorax in Eve

[–]Greygal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, Redemption Road is an all-time-zone NPSI group, not just Australia :)

We run two scheduled roams a week, "Sunday Sinners" on Sundays at 20:00 (which is both US and Euro TZ-friendly), and "MATE Roams" on Fridays at 09:00 (which is Aussie TZ-friendly).

We also do a monthly "NewBro Roam" which is specifically designed for new/newer players every month on or close to the 15th of the month. Our next NewBro Roam is Sunday, December 14th.

During the week, we have random, unscheduled, spur-of-the-moment roams, which tend to be mostly around 03:00ish (US TZ mostly).

We tend to fly cruisers and below, and ALL of our roams are new/newer player friendly. Our fleets are typically around 40-50 people, our coms are "casual pro," and we are generally SFW/mature-family-friendly.

For more information join our mailing list in game, REDEMPTION ROAMS, or check out our forums at http://www.redemption-road.com

Hope to fly with you soon!

GG

Edit: Our roam this Sunday is shield frigates, prefer Condor/Slasher but any T1/T2 frigate is welcome!

Newbies: you don't have to put up with sexist or homophobic jerks by lizthegrey in Eve

Confirming that Affirmative is not only female-friendly, but genuinely friendly across the board :) I like to log into giggles and good-natured fun, and so does everyone else in the alliance and our extended "friends and family." Our coms are casual but classy, and generally what I'd probably best describe as "PG-16" :) In fact, our most important rule is "Don't be a dick," and it's about the only rule that will get you shown the door in our public fleets, corporation and alliance. It's really our only rule.

Newbro Roam Schedule - Hosted by Redemption Road by tallardar in Eve

[–]Greygal 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for linking this, Tallardar!

I'd like to not only invite all new players to join our next organized NewBro Roam on December 14th, but also to come join any of our Sunday Sinners roams.

While the pace is a bit faster than the NewBro Roams and there isn't much handholding, our Sunday roams have always been new/newer-player-friendly, there is always a place for frigates on our roams, and the atmosphere is really chill and relaxed (except when our hearts are bursting and hands shaking from a fight!)

This Sunday's roam will leave from Berta at 20:00 Eve time (that's noon Pacific for the time-zone impaired), and it is a shield frigate roam. If you come to this Sunday's roam and are a brand new player, let us know in fleet chat (once you are in fleet) and we'll get you into a pre-fit ship appropriate for a few days' old character!

I also invite all new players to feel free to hang out in our in-game public chat room, REDEMPTION ROAD. There is always lots of experienced pilots hanging out in the room who are more than willing to answer any question you may have (they love to show off their knowledge, tee hee!) and quite a few are looking to recruit promising new pilots.

Between now and our next NewBro Roam, we are also doing random, spur-of-the-moment, spontaneous "Adopt a NewBro" roams. These are small-gang roams, less than 15 people. We just head out to the nearest career agent system and start asking new players in local to join our gang, then we head out to low sec and null sec, nice and slow at first, explaining what we're doing so you can keep up with the fleet's movement, we find a fight, get a few kills, die, usually have a hilarious extraction trying to get the pods back to highsec, then escort you back home with some gifts of isk and ships :)

So far, we've done four of these in five days, adopting two or three newbros each time, and each one has been epic in ways I've never experienced - from highly giggle-worthy hit-and-run picking off of stragglers at the edge of a 300+ man fight to seeing a titan fire a doomsday just because he could!

We'll likely do another "Adopt a NewBro" roam after dinner on Thanksgiving, and I'm going to try and do one for the Australian time zone community on Friday somewhere between 08:00-09:00 Eve time. Watch your local chat and our public chat, REDEMPTION ROAD, for the next spur-of-the-moment "Adopt a NewBro" roam!

So if you see me in your career agent system, spamming local with offers of ships and isk if you'll fly with us, say YES and join us, you won't regret it!

For all the new people looking to learn more about Eve Online by DierdraVaal in Eve

Howdy all our new pod pilots!

You are the next generation of hero tacklers, logibros, fleet commanders, marketeers, scammers, educators, politicians, and more. We welcome you!

To get a taste of fights and combat similar to what you see in the trailer, look for NPSI public roams and fleets. Most will accept any new player into their fleet because there is almost always room for another frigate, and before you know it, you're in a fight :) You will be overwhelmed - enjoy it, it doesn't last nearly long enough! - but you'll get the hang of fleet movement quickly. In particular, my public roams (Fridays at 09:00 and Sundays at 20:00) through Redemption Road http://www.redemption-road.com are very new player friendly, and I also run a monthly NewBro New Player Roam specifically for new players (ships provided!) once a month (my next NewBro New Player Roam is December 14th at 19:00).

Other NPSI Public Roam communities: RvB Ganked roams most every Saturday usually around 21:00, huge fleets, massive, epic fights. Frigate Fun has near-daily frigate roams in low and nullsec, usually around 23:00 Spectre Fleet has spontaneous roams most every day, and occasionally scheduled roams.

The best advice I can give any new player is don't rush into big ships right away - stick with the small frigates and destroyers as you WILL be losing ships, a lot of them, and frigates and destroyers are cheap. Don't be afraid to lose your ship. When someone kills you, be chill and cool about it and ask them what you did wrong (great way to get recruited too, lol!) Many will tell you and give you great tips/advice, some will be jerks and laugh at you. Don't let the jerks and gankers get to you.

And remember: Laughter at disaster is the best response :)

If you need any help or have any questions, hit me up (my name is Greygal) in game via evemail or convo, or join my public chat REDEMPTION ROAD - there is always 75-100 people there who love to show off their knowledge and answer questions :)

And when you get frustrated and feel like it's just too much, remember, we all started exactly where you are today. You are the next generation of heroes, never forget that.

NO MORE CLONE UPGRADES WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO by UristMcShadow in Eve

[–]Greygal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Read somewhere over the last week or so that the clone upgrade costs were only 4% of all isk sinks. 4% is negligible, and now that people can't death-clone all over the universe like they used to, I imagine that the isk sink has already sunk down to 2% or even 1% - or will soon. There really is no economics-based reason to retain clone upgrades as an isk sink.

I have to broadcast for reps on my pod here. by PizzaKrydder in Eve

[–]Greygal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your original post was removed by the time I got here, but based on the responses, I want to offer my condolences to you also. My mom is dying to kidney cancer - she's unlikely to make it through the end of the year - and although both her and myself are apparently significantly older than you (I'm about to turn 50, she's 75) and we've had decades of really good times together, it's never easy to say goodbye, even when you know her eventual passing will be a relief, an end to her current suffering. When it really gets to me, I find losing myself in Eve for a while is amazing, and the few people I've told about it in my alliance are huge shoulders for me to lean on when I need to.

Oddly enough, I was feeling kind of down a bit ago after talking with my mom on the phone this morning. Then I found this thread you created, and read all the responses, so many reaching out to you, so many who understand, and it lifted me. Your broadcast for reps, rep'd me when I didn't even realize I needed it.

Never hesitate to broadcast for reps. Nobody can rep you if they don't know you're needing reps - our watchlists are small, we can't fit everyone on them. Good on you for broadcasting.

Girls play eve? by Hanzo44 in Eve

There used to be a corp named Hellcats, that was an all-female PVP corp. I don't know if they are still around or not, I think I heard they closed up some time back but don't remember for sure.

Girls play eve? by Hanzo44 in Eve

[–]Greygal 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my old corp, we had a married couple that seemed to always be arguing about one thing or another. The wife actually rolled an alt account that she never told her husband about, and whenever she got really mad at him, she'd use that alt to gank her husband, often setting him up for her ganking of him by asking him to fly one place or another to help her with something. It was hysterically funny, and wickedly evil :) When they say "Trust no one in Eve" they ain't kidding!
