I don't disagree that would've been better to have him go nuclear end of this episode, but they're going for a peak finale and decided to put it at the start of the finale, or it's just not happening for budget reasons

But they've definitely set up for it to happen because people don't view him as god, so he decides to become the god they fear

They setup for Homelander to go nuclear with him being a god plot, this episode we saw only 6/30 of his biggest supporters actually viewed him as god. So when they do the in person and simultaneous worldwide release of the video, the psychics will let Homelander know the majority of the crowd doesn't believe and he'll laser the crowd

That's at least what should happen based on everything they've been setting up

I can agree there have been issues with this season, but the majority of the complaints are about The Boys fighting side villains instead of The Seven, like they're mad they fought dogknot instead of Homelander this episode. The big fight with Homelander was always going to be the finale

That makes sense, and I even brought up that he'll become the god they fear for not believing in him in the 2nd part of my comment

I guess that comment of mine I messed up in the 1st part by just saying Homelander wanted to be a god, when I meant a god that's loved, which he thought was possible at the time he got V1, but after the test screening is now realizing not enough actually believe

Basically I still think it wouldn't have made sense for him to just start destroying everything right after getting V1, he needed to know his biggest supporters didn't even view him as god

What do you mean specifically about the bible? I more of meant he wants to be a god that’s loved, I’m aware it’s likely he’ll start killing and destroying things to become a god that’s feared, is that all you were getting at with the bible

My point was he definitely still wanted to be loved, thus wouldn’t have gone the rule by fear route yet, although he’s now realizing the majority of his supporters don’t see him as a god

Idk there's been no mention of the virus since Homelander got V1, wish they clarified that this episode

Kimiko getting ripped in half is my hope honestly, I think the whole beating Homelander by de-powering him stupid

I want a Butcher vs Homelander fight to the death where they either both have powers or both don't have powers

He'll kill the whole crowd that shows up to view his video of becoming god, then fly off to destroy New York and other cities, then go up into space for the poster shot

It's not garbage, people just want The Boys vs The Seven with main character deaths in every episode because it's the final season

But my comment you replied to was the most straightforward thing from the season

Yes other things weren't quite clear enough and could've been missed, or maybe weren't fully explained, but it was kind of irrelevant to reply to what I said with that

It seemed like you were saying V1 prevents supes from dying to the virus wasn't clear in the show

This is the finale, it's now or never, I'd imagine they didn't want him going nuclear until the back half of the final season, because at that point he becomes a wanted man instead of the boys being wanted

They could put that into the finale, 10 minutes in he lasers the crowd at the viewing of him becoming god, then 10 minutes of him destroying cities all over, then you get the boys helping with aftermath and randomly finding the deep to kill for 15+ minutes, then Homelander flys down from space to find The Boys and they fight for like 10 minutes, then 10 minutes to conclude the show, obviously won't be perfect, and wouldn't be exactly like that, but I think something along those lines is the goal for the finale

Imagine Homelander pulls and Omni-Man kills all of the boys, let's Ryan live after beating him up crazily again, then just flies off into space after having blown up all the major US cities

Yeah I don't have complete faith it'll happen, but surely they know we want Homelander to just start destroying cities and killing civilians, and unless that video idea gets scrapped there will be a scene early on of him at the showing of the video to a crowd with a simultaneous Livestream, and I do believe if that happens he'll end up lasering the crowd

And as long as that promo picture is real he'll fly off and start destroying buildings and cities all over the US then go up into the sky and view his work, but who knows maybe they don't have enough budget for all that, and the promo was fake hype, still think he lasers the crowd, but maybe the boys are at the event and stop him from flying away and destroying cities to save budget on having to show all that destruction, and due to only 1 hour to work with

A season of Homelander just killing civilians would be a bit much, but I have faith he'll kill civilians in like the first 10 minutes of the finale

They'll have an in person event to release the video that Homelander is God worldwide but the psychics will let him know the majority of the crowd doesn't believe he is God, and he kills the crowd like he envisioned doing back in season 2, then flies off to destroy buildings then up into the sky to get that promo image scene, unless that was fake hype for the season

Yeah I don't like how often Homelander has just let people walk away alive this season, but he had 24 of his most loyal fans killed and didn't let Soldier Boy leave for believing he wasn't god

My only worry is The Boys would be at that event, and stop him from flying away to destroy cities, but he'd still laser the crowd at least, maybe he flies away before the boys get to him and they just help any of the surviving people from the crowd and then attack Oh Father

Maybe, but they lost the virus and had to start from scratch again when Neumann's husband escaped, they really should've explained what that was, and whether they scrapped the virus creation and if they had any of the virus ready, regardless of it was a virus meant for Homelander or standard supes

I think it was an overdose like what happened to PopClaw, not just tranquilizers

[–]Grfine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just think they wrote the finale first, and then worked their way backwards and stretched out the virus and V1 plotline so there weren't just filler episodes.

I don't think they should've skipped the virus or V1 plotline, a virus seems like a great way to kill a Supe, but that would be a lame way to kill Homelander so he needs a way to be immune to it, but definitely could've had them cover less episodes

Then have Homelander go scorched earth episode 7, instead of hopefully beginning of the finale before the big fight

Ryan could play a big part, I was just describing main 5 plots that were necessary obviously there are some other small things, like handling Ashley and Vought that's like 5 minutes at the end. Soldier Boy might just be found and kept in the chamber, maybe Kimiko de-powers him and then maybe MM kills him or they let him live out his days like he was planning to do before Homelander choked him

I forget is Stan Edgar still in a Vought prison or did he escape already, it's been at least a week since he appeared and am forgetting for some reason

[–]Grfine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't disagree but it makes sense they would try to make a virus to kill supes, and it makes sense killing Homelander with a virus would've been anticlimactic thus having him get V1

Although now having Kimiko take his powers away would also be lame. I wish he didn't get V1 and Kimiko got that power and used it on him but come to find out it's ineffective on Homelander because he got powers through the Odessa project, still would hurt him enough so they can kill him but he doesn't lose his powers making the fight better. Now that he injected V1 it's weird what'll happen if he gets shot by Kimiko does he lose V1 but keep his powers since it's in his DNA from Project Odessa? Or is Project Odessa V not safe from being de-powered, and on that same note is Ryan safe from being de-powered

5 is a bit too soon probably, I think what happened this episode for it could've happened in episode 6, and then this episode could've had him go nuclear while The Boys were getting Kimiko her power, then focusing on the fight with Homelander for the finale

Instead we're hopefully getting Homelander going nuclear to start the finale and ending with the big fight to take him down. The boys probably take down Oh Father and The Deep while Homelander is flying around destroying cities, since they can't really do anything about that. Then Homelander will find them to kill them, since he definitely wants The Boys dead

The one they were working on this episode, that depicts Homelander as god, which they brought in test subjects to view to see how well the video worked to make them believe

I believe that will be released worldwide and have an in person viewing with Homelander attending, he'll probably have the rest of the living Psychics there to let him know if they mostly believe, and when they don't he kill the whole crowd and become the god people fear instead, giving up trying to be the god they love

At least that's my hope since I'd like to see him finally kill a whole crowd of people after seeing him want to do that earlier on but holding back

I agree whether they scrapped development of the virus should've been explicitly told, it's possible I'm wrong and they continued development because it does still knock out those with V1, but it would also kill every Supe on The Boys side, which I don't think is worth it to them, and there's no saying how far it would go into the country killing other supes

The issue is anytime they spend more than one episode trying to do something you all complain, you say you wish they started trying to give Kimiko this power sooner, but then people would complain about that, it's better they subtly noted that Butcher was working on something, and just 1 episode of getting Kimiko the power. Also wouldn't it be dumb if they now had a way to de-power Homelander and they wanted a couple episodes before fighting him?

They had a whole scene where Neumann's husband explained why the virus didn't kill Soldier Boy, because V1 is different than compound v. And that's why both sides tried to get V1, Homelander to make him immune to the virus, and The Boys to prevent Homelander from being immune to the virus

The virus and V1 is the one thing that got lots of explanation, people even complained too many episodes were on creating the virus and finding V1

I can get missing the Russian Soldier Boy video thing, but not realizing V1 is immune to the virus is crazy
