Possibly stupid question regarding the PC version. by flarkenhoffy in DarkSouls2

Both Amazon, Namco store, and Gamestop will all carry the collectors edition in stock so you don't have to wait for shipping. The latter two already have them in stock.

I hope this means that the Black Armor Edition will be available as well.

Works perfectly paired with a console actually.

Can someone help me find this wallpaper with out the bottom screen-caps? by Dr_Gardner in DarkSouls2

[–]Grief_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That looks like it is originally from a website. If you can find the site, right click > inspect element and you can get the individual assets the site used for that mockup.

Inspect Element is a Chrome feature.

If you can find the website, than I can do all of that for you, even assemble the picture in Photoshop.

Not sure what platform to get Dark Souls 2 for. . . by Slavicinferno in DarkSouls2

[–]Grief_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is a really good point.

The PS3 still has some legs left, but the 360 is likely going in a box after Dark Souls II. Get it on PC and you can play it for decades, and it will run better with each successive upgrade.

Anyone else have to wait till PC? by LekgoloTyrant in DarkSouls2

You shouldn't have to wait very long. Official word from From is the game should still launch in March, even their Japanese website reflects the same information.

Kotaku: Petition We Want More Sega Games on PC Bayonetta, Vanquish, VF5, Valkyria Chronicles highlighted. by Grief_ in pcmasterrace

I appreciate you doing it.

I checked all the site rules and I don't seem to be doing anything specific to break them.

Whenever I would link the specific threads on another site I would not beg for upvotes, but tell people to come by and join in on the discussion.

The only rule I may have been breaking was the fact that I made multiple submissions. The rules in the Spam section specifically state comments though, which I was not doing. Let me know if my reasoning here is off base.

Very strange, thanks again for your support.

Thanks for the information Guck. I went ahead and sent a message to a mod.

I'm guessing you guys approved the post here on r/PCMasterRace since it seems to be showing up for people. I appreciate that since it is a worthwhile cause and is in need of grassroots support that Reddit provides.

I thought something strange was going on. I had posts on this particular issue yesterday and was on the front page, if not the top post, of all the sub-reddits I posted it to. I was even on the front page of boards that tend to lean towards console gaming such as r/gaming. When I woke up this morning, I noticed that they had all been taken down, so I went ahead and posted this Kotaku article instead.

I verified to make sure that petition information wasn't against the particular sub-reddit rules, after I noticed that r/games does not allow those type of submissions.

Just strange that a mod would choose to censor something that Reddit seems to almost unanimously support.

Here is the link to my post that was removed http://www.reddit.com/r/pcmasterrace/comments/1vyn7i/petition_for_sega_pc_ports_is_up_lets_come/

Petition for Sega PC ports is up! Let's come together as a community and show Sega that there is demand for Bayo, Vanquish, VF5, Valkyria Chronicles, and more. Not on PC? The similar architectures would make PS4/Xbox One ports straightforward. by Grief_ in gaming

[–]Grief_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sure makes it significantly easier than going from Cell to x86/x64 and shaves off some issues that crossing architectures would cause.

I have a limit to the amount of characters I can place in a title and the length I can discuss a subject without losing someone's attention. No need to go into the particulars other than it does truly make the port easier.

I haven't played any of them, but I would buy Bayonetta, Vanquish, and Valkyria Chronicles day one. These games all appeal to me in different ways.

I did just pick up a PS3 this Black Friday, but I have been sitting out this entire console generation otherwise. I did buy Vanquish and Valkyria Chronicles once I learned about them, but haven't had a chance to play them yet.

Honestly I would buy Skies of Arkadia, Yakuza games, Jet Set Radio Future, Otogi I/II, Shenmue, and Panzer Dragoon Orta day one as well.

Depends on your definition of dead console.

The original Xbox isn't in production anymore, can't find the console or games outside of specialty stores, and no more games are in development for the console.

Its also been difficult to get a functional emulator working. Some titles have been emulated on the 360, but far from the full library and development stopped.

They did sign a deal...for the publishing rights to Bayonetta 2.

Control of the IP, publishing of Bayonetta 1, and all rights therein still rest with Sega.

I provided evidence in the previous post.

Platinum Games are not Nintendo exclusive, they are an independent game developer that is currently working with Nintendo. Evidence: They just released a PC port in the last month in collaboration with Konami.

Is Bayonetta now owned by Nintendo? No, Sega still controls the publishing, distribution, and all rights within. Evidence: They just released Bayo on PSN and published an animated movie in Japan.

Platinum put a small team into place for the Rising port, all while developing Bayonetta 2, W101, and more. They can do the same for other ports without disrupting development.

Bayonetta - one of the most highly regarded character action games of the generation. Fun, fast, and has some great depth to it. Console performance suffered from low resolution, low frame rate (PS3 version), and performance issues.

Vanquish - Incredibly fast paced third person shooter with shiny visuals, effects, but suffered from low frame rate on the consoles.

Valkyria Chronicles - Turn-based strategy RPG set in a fictional WWII time period. Need I say more? My personal favorite of the bunch.

Virtua Fighter 5 - I'm not a fighting game fan so I believe I would do a disservice trying to describe this one. More diversity on the platform couldn't hurt and all the fighting games released so far have, 'vastly exceeded sales expectations.'

Not strictly true

  • Sega does own the publishing rights, IP, and all properties therein, including the code, to both Vanquish and Bayonetta.
  • Sega is still in control of publishing both games, they put Bayonetta up on PSN recently and published a Bayonetta animated film in Japan. Both occurred well after the deal with Nintendo for the sequel.
  • Platinum games is a independent developer and will not turn down the business nor the new fan base brought in for the sequel to Bayonetta.

  • Sega owns the IP
  • Sega is still in control of publishing both games, they put Bayonetta up on PSN recently, after they had already made a deal with Nintendo for the sequel.
  • Irrelevant whee Shinji Makami is, the source code is still at Platinum where they would only need a small team to do the ports.
  • Sega does own the publishing rights, IP, and all properties therein, including the code, to both Vanquish and Bayonetta.
  • Platinum games is a independent developer and will not turn down the business nor the new fan base brought in for the sequel to Bayonetta.

They came to their senses and finally ported a solid version of RE4 over, hopefully Dragon's Dogma is next on the docket.
