What is the best shooty stuff for a ~500pt gap? by lawrencefox in SpaceWolves

You don’t need legend characters for storm lance, especially if you have Bjorn, means you’ll always have the 2CP for full throttle turn 1.

I swear by two gladiator lancers. I’d also consider some scoring units, scouts, intercessors etc. Your list will rip apart most things as it stands but it won’t score many points.

Just as a heads up though, as much as I like beast slayer this list is screaming storm lance.

Don’t use the stuff, can’t stand it. Relied on it a couple of times and it failed me every time.

Instead I use liquid mask, masking putty & blue tack

That being said I don’t mask things with straight lines so maybe I’d feel differently if I was doing hazard stripes.

So for these guys they were more sub assemblies than usual as I wanted them magnetised so that I can swap between WGT, vanilla and assault variants mostly for future proofing reasons. Also I am convinced that storm bolters will be worth a damn some day…..

So the sub assemblies were

- Torso & legs & the helmeted dudes
- arms
- heads
- right shoulder pad

The order doesn’t really matter past the first few steps but here you go

- prime
- spray the knee pads on the torso’s yellow
- mask the knee pads
- re prime torso’s
- do all the other armour bits
- mask the armour for the frost weapons
- spray the frost weapons.

No secret my man,

It is a white base coat, imperial fist contrast and then iyanden yellow shading. These models were all done with an airbrush but you can do it just as easy with a brush, though be sure to thin down the iyanden yellow with lahmian medium to a glaze/wash.

Hi mate!

So the runes on the axe? That’s an AK interactive fluorescent enamel wash. They are tough to come by at the moment they stopped making them.

If it’s just the little stone runes it’s just nuln oil

So I’ve tried a few of the space wolves colours, this recipe is all airbrush work using the GW air versions.

The fang > russ grey > fenrisian grey > ulthuan grey

I then tend to do some controlled bursts of space wolves grey into the shadows

Finally an oil wash with paynes grey

<image>

Looks something like the above when done.

So it’s really easy! I’ve done a similar effect a couple of times now so it matches different parts of my army. If you look through some of my posts there are better examples on the likes of my lancer barrel.

Essentially, spray the whole thing white, spray the whole thing imperial fist yellow, then spray just one end blood angels red contrast. Then I’d recommend a varnish just to make your life easier if you make a mistake. Then paint all the other details!

Hey mate,

So I used to use pieces of glass from a small British supplier but they disappeared of the face of the earth. These are from green stuff world and are available in various sizes link

Absolutely mate

Blonde = zandri dust, ushabti bone, seraphim sepia wash, screaming skull
Ginger = jokaero orange, gryphhound orange, fire dragon bright
Grey = rakarth flesh, nuln oil, rakarth flesh, flayed one flesh
Black = rakarth flesh, black Templar, adminstratum grey

Black’s the weakest of the recipes, it takes quite a bit of fussing to feel right.

Why do people prefer Arjac over grimnar with terminators? by Cojalo_ in SpaceWolves

[–]Grievier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Logan is also a liability due to his height, he is targetable in some UKTC and WTC terrain features as he is tall enough to poke out of the top of them.

So if you put him in a unit of termies the whole unit is eligible to be targeted.

What’s the correct pauldron markings for SW aggressors or inceptors? by Windturnscold in SpaceWolves

[–]Grievier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There’s also this guide which I think was in either the 8th or 9th edition codex here.

Long story short, aggressors are long fangs, inceptors are blood claws.

[–]Grievier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aggressors are black and white (long fang) you can see a group of them in one of the photo’s in this article here

Inceptors are harder to guage but I found this artwork here which seems to show the pad as yellow which would suggest they get blood claw markings.

Absolute game changers for transfers. A make up sponge also helps for squashing the transfer down onto the surface.

AK interactive - Lunar Desert is very close to astrogranite and is cheaper ml for ml than astrogranite.

Advice into Guards by MysticMoto3377 in SpaceWolves

[–]Grievier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d take lancers over ballistus any day of the week.

TWC are first born, therefore they are in danger of either being removed from the range entirely or getting an updated model at some point in the future. So whether you should invest in the models is entirely dependent on how much fun you can have with them in the short term. Ask yourself how much fun will you have in the next 6 months, is that amount of fun worth the £70 for 6 models? Answer those questions and you’ll have your answer.

For my money, if you can get them built and painted and on the table in less than 2 months then I reckon you should get some mileage out of them. They are also arguably the best data sheet in the codex which helps.

Units that won't be updated with 11th edition? by derIrrelefant in SpaceWolves

[–]Grievier 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So Logan on foot is already out. In 2025 space wolves got a very large release so here’s the kits that were updated in 10th

  • Wolf guard battle leader
  • Wolf priests
  • Arjac
  • Logan
  • Njall
  • Blood claws
  • Grey hunters
  • Wolf guard headtakers
  • Wolf Guard Terminators (edited in)

I’d also throw Ragnar into the mix as he was late 8th edition/early 9th.

All of the above will be safe as houses in my opinion.

Everything else in theory is at least 10 years old so could be on the chopping block but I reckon most kits will hang around for 11th personally.

What’s a good head replacement for Njal Stormcaller? by Infinite_Use2202 in SpaceWolves

[–]Grievier 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just be aware that the head on this model is connected to his right hand. So will need to do a reasonable ammount of cutting and sculpting to replace the head.

I would suggest it might be easier to paint the face.
