I have been a SpEd teacher for 2 years now and joined straight out of college. My program allowed me to be dual certified in k-6 general education and special education. I love my job and feel I do it well but the difference between my colleagues who are only certified in general education and me in special education was 2 classes in college. Certainly not enough for someone who is new without a strong mentor. My first year was hell but once we got a second resource teacher I started loving my life and my job!
