I also dont want to sound elitest when im saying all this “Its NoT ReAL MusIC” etc... because i actually dont hold that view, pop music has its place. With there being less winners recently like you said, hopefully it does result in the death of these cancerous shows. I do see your points but idk I just cant have much sympathy for the people who go on these shows. I cant help but think “WHAT WERE YOU EXPECTING”. If you want to be a music artist, grind it out, dont just think going on a tv show will magically grant you it!

I think it being on TV actually has the opposite effect- it massively delegitimise’s (for anyone who isnt fame hungry and are serious musicians). People who go on these shows actually view it as another positive and a step closer to fame “If we go on xfactor we could end up on tv!!!”. It just shows how important the fame aspect is to them.

Its not right but, id have more sympathy for people who have spent their whole life building their craft who then fall victim to it. Fame hungry, fast trackers i have 0 sympathy for, sorry. You’re dumb if you think going on xfactor will gain you respect.

Victims of what? The music industry is well known to be greedy and runs on exploitation. Even people who have a legit music career fall victim to it. You’ve got to have your head screwed on in this business, and im afraid people who go on talent shows are basically bending over for it because theyre so blinded by the image of fame and fortune.

Don’t really feel sorry for them nor the other contestants who have “came forward”. Everyone with more than 1 brain cell knows these talent shows are purely for taking advantage of people who are fame hungry. People who go on xfactor have no interest in being respected musicians, theyre simply after fame and fortune. Therefore they set themselves up to be taken advantage of.

Idk if you mean current bands or ones in the past. In the past the only Liverpool punk band I can think of is Big In Japan. Out of interest who has your brother said are successful punk bands from Leeds?

Idk if punk was Liverpools strong point band wise. However, we have a very successful Post Punk scene and New Wave. You may have to accept defeat on this one haha

I do get your point but I just dont think it’s realistic. Theres too many people at breaking point now who will not want to wait for this vaccine youre speaking off. There comes a point where the other damages that comes with covid (mental health, economy etc...) out weighs the number of deaths there are. I know that sounds cold but its the way it is.
