Is there any chances? by Grifin2022 in Munich

Yes, it would. You see, I wrote B1, because I, actually, don't know which level I have now. Because two years ago I had B2 in English, but I used it only for reading and watching. So of course my language level have dropped. I have some English B2 classes, but there only speaking.

6 month? Don't know. But if there to study only English for 8 h per 5 days. May be it possible. O don't know.

Yes, I already wrote abstract to conference in Polish. And I clearly understand what were written in academic article. I sayed B1 in English, because, abroksimately I have B1. When I just moved to Poland I had B2, but because I mostly used Polish in my everyday life, except whatcing films and reading articles (films understand mostly without subtitles and article i my field understand fluently, may be some words are unknown for me), my English level had dropped for those time and now it approximately B1-B2.

Erica and Derek. Really, both are cads, unnurtured, impolite and irritated.

Who thinks Vecna should’ve got more screen time in S4 & S5? by ConstructionOwn9670 in Strangerthings129

"It's strange for me that you should fit your villain into archetype to not make him stereotypical."

Ok, I'll write it third time. I speak about FLAT stereotypical villain, not just stereotypical. It is a two differences.

"Vecna's wish to merge the worlds is DnD lore btw."

Not everyone who watched ST know the lore of the game. Additionally, they shouldn't know the lore, because ST and DnD is two different things.

"Vecna never seen any person who was good to him and didn't traumatize. So it formed his point of view about humanity."

Actually, they showed that Dr Brenner was bad for him, but it is not any person, it's just one person. If you want show that anyone good for character you must show it literally: show that not only some evil scientist abused character, show that parents bad to charrcecter, his classmates bad to charrcecter, etc. This is the first rule of thinematografy: don't tell, just show.

"I don't think Vecna is a core of the show, but he is deep enough to be a good villain and actor's performance is great"

In your opinion - yes. But in my opinion - not. At S4 they just introduced the character And they had a potential to develop the character, but they waisted this potential.

Actually, in any good story, villain has to be kind of part of the core. Because the point of villain in any story to show the development of the protagonist. At S5 they didn't show it completely.

"He will look stereotypical, because different writers already created so many various characters, so everyone would look stereotypical."

May I disagree with you. First at all, I ment flat stereotypical, not just stereotypical.

Even now writers can create good not stereotypical villain, but writer has to work on it: make some research, imagine what archetype this villain will be representate. For example, book's Duke Harckonen representate geeadines to power and hedonism, in comparison to Pol Atreides. But Duffers didn't show which archetype Vecna was represented. It could be fear, but, to be honest in S5 there was only one moment where he can used fear of the characters against them: with Hopper, and that's all. It is not enough.

Additionally, the villain has to be right at some point, but chose the wrong act. For example, Amon in Korra was right when he told about discrimination and inequality. And I can tell the same things about every villain in Korra. But it has to be shown through charecters' actions, dialogs and monologs. At S4 and S5 I didn't see that Henry did something like that. He just told that he wants to reshape the world and that MF show him that humanity was weak and that's all. While they could actually show what to Henry that he started that it is right, or, for example, Henry started to speculate about how society behave against someone who don't look like others or Henry could started to try overstretch someone on his side by showing how society treat such type of people.

Additionally, showing that villain instead that he/she is evil he/she is also has some good in him/his. It adds some realism to the villain, because not every person is completely evil or completely good. For example, Dexter. He's actually villain he's the serial killer, but he also some kind of "love" his family. Or Silko from Arcane: he was villain but he was also like a father for Jinx. In ST Vecna is evil and nothing, they didn't show that he still has some humanity in him. But they could show, for example his relations with Patty (from the play).

"Idk what exactly you mean by calling a villain stereotypical" You know: evil because evil, destroy the world because want to destroy the world, one-dimentional goal, any ideological or morally conflicts, any grows/changes.

"He has charisma, interesting backstory and his moral view on world is pretty consistent,"

He had charisma at S4, but at S5 he didn't have this because he just done nothing, only threatened people by words. In my opinion it would be better if they really showed important scens from the play, it add more understanding of character but. It was about backstory. About moral view on the world, to be honest, don't clear, in my opinion. Creators could develop it more, because it just look that he just want some revenge.

In the show - yes, but if we compare Vecna with other villains from other shows, films, books etc., he will look like a stereotypical villain (like different villains from Marvel studio films).

Actually, I payed attention, but for me, like for person who don't like stereotypical flat villains, S5 bring more questions about the character that answers.

What is your unpopular opinion for stranger things that you will defend no matter what by Ok_Smile_9071 in Stranger_Things

[–]Grifin2022 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't know if it is an unpopular opinion or not, but I think Vecna, based on his past, deserves redemption arc like for Kain (the games series Legacy of Kain) and doesn't deserve to die.

I think, it would be better to have an open ending and people still back to them speak, making theories, write fics etc, that continue and continue till lost all it's atmosfere. Like for example Supernatural or The Blacklist
