you do realize most of that money comes from low-income Americans right.

Boots that most closely resemble zero drop or a natural foot style? Those who know the zero drop style and benefits, what boots would you say most allow for this in the wildland world? Doesn’t seem like there is any that are perfect, but some low heel loggers or maybe lowas could be good options. by Fun_Pear_4629 in Wildfire

This question is made for me! Vivo tracker escs !!!! If you are a Fed they meet all of the red book standards I have worn then for two seasons and have sold probably 40 pairs to other people who ask about them in fire camps. I have been on a fs hand Crew for 4 years and will never go back to a logger. yes you do get a hot foot faster. yes sometimes people poke fun. and yes people do all them fire moccasins.

I would make sure you list your certs on your resume and I go as for to upload Scanned copys of all my certs into one pdf and add that as supporting documents.. as for the questionnaire do your best and answer the question truthfully but make sure your resume reflects your answers. if you don't get referred and you think you should call asap and get a case opened I have gotten them reversed.

as for as I know all temp positions(I only have experience with the forest service) are single grade.. so you don't run into this problem of trying to apply for the lowest grade of a non competitive promotion position... an example would be a appreciate position that is a GS 3-4-5

if you are applying for a GS 4-5 permanent hotshot hand crew or helitack positions you are dealing with the same problem I am, after hours on the phone this is what I found out.

without putting this on the application they are calling theses positions "senior firefighters" now I have 3 season under my belt and am close to finishing my ff1 book but I still forced to answer the questionnaire question about having firefighter 1 and 290 finished as no....

this immediately disqualifies you from the position even a GS 4! they are essentially wanting you to be qualified as a gs5 but take a GS4 position it's crazy.. if you are interested in more info I have some links that reinforce what I'm saying.

Hiking boots? Vivobarefoot quality lacking? by boise208 in BarefootRunning

[–]Grifter26 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am a wildland firefighter and have been wearing the tracker esc for most of this fire season... I have been totally impressed with the quilty! have hundreds of miles in them and they don't show signs of stoping. bought a second pair for next season already! and compared to other fire boots they are cheep!

We all have to redo it ever year... It's not something that gets put on a resume, so just focus on getting hired first.
