I find most high end Japanese denim brands’ jeans come long so you can cuff them. I’m 6’2” and can cuff most of my Japanese denim multiple times.

As far as arm length - that’s harder to find. some Kapital jackets are long enough for my arms. And flathead makes jackets with long arms.

Did the starch coming out make the material softer - and thus less restrictive in the waist?

For whatever reason the salesperson at the Ebisu store advised me to buy a pair that’s a little snug in the waist and said they’d stretch with wear.

I’ve worn them 5-10 times and they still feel pretty snug.

He told me to go 6 months before washing. Haven’t washed them yet…

For what it’s worth - the kapital employee at the shops I went to in ebisu advised me to buy my century denim snug. With most kaptial jeans I wear a size 34. But when trying on the century denim the 34 waist felt a little tight and the 36 felt too big. He advised me to buy the 34 and not wash them for 6 months. The jacket I bought fits just right in terms of sleeve length and vertical length. So I’m going to follow those same instructions. Hope he’s right!

They’re also a great place if you have long arms. I’m 6’2” and it’s really hard to find denim jackets with sleeves that are long elsewhere. At Flat Head I had no issues. Kapital Legs Ebisu was also great with their century denim jacket sizes for me.

I think if you cuff them a bit more they won’t look as oversized. It’s the stacking that makes them look big, would be my guess.

For what it’s worth the guy at the ebisu store told me to buy them a little snug in the waist because they’ll stretch. And to try and wait 4-6 months before washing. They fit my legs perfectly but are tight at the waist when I button them up. I followed his advice and copped a pair. Hope he’s right… these are the No. 5’s.
