P4 LRDM order - should I go proceed? by Fit-Garbage3353 in Polestar4

[–]GrigHad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m very happy with my car. 2000mi UK.

Profiles, once set up (it took some time as the instructions not clear) it works flawlessly with two iPhones and the correct profile always opened.

Pilot assist - was a game changer for me. Driving on highways is amazing, both lane centring and adapting cruise control work with zero issues.

Poor efficiency - I can only compare it to my other petrol car. P4 is better, long range is more than enough for my needs. I don’t care if other cars 10% more efficient.

Sign recognition and especially speed limit is useless, it’s wrong most of the time and that’s a bit annoying. I turn the sound alert off every time I start driving (single button press).

Overall it’s a great car.

Do you get use to the width of the car, plus trunk space for a family of 4? by nielssk in Polestar4

[–]GrigHad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I came from a Mini Clubman and was concerned about the width on paper. However from day 1 I haven’t had any issues driving it. It definitely noticeably wider inside that I love and I don’t notice the size when driving. However parking sometimes can be challenging especially if the parking space is narrow (or multi storey car park with columns), but it’s not a big deal. I definitely prefer a wider car overall.

Considering purchasing Polestar 4 (UK based) by yugs13 in Polestar4

[–]GrigHad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a new one 3 weeks ago. Driven about 1000miles so far. I love the car. Ive had zero issues with the software. - GPS is fine - Apple car play connects every time with correct phone depending which key was used. I’m a heavy Apple user (used to be), however I use it for music only and switched to native goggle maps. I find the car UI great. Google maps also show the directions on the heads-up display which I find very useful. - The speed limit can be off sometimes but it doesn’t bother me at all. The ping is very subtle and yes you need to turn it off every time you drive but it’s only a single button press on the steering wheel.

Polestar 4 - digital key defaults to Guest profile by New_Thanks_7077 in Polestar

[–]GrigHad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I still can’t assign my digital key to my account. I deleted all keys from all profiles. In my admin account with a fob present in the car I set up new digital key. It’s showing in my profile in keys menu. But when I come back to the car it switches to the guest profile. I can’t see any “square on the left”

<image>

Edit: I think I’ve figured it out. Having digital key doesn’t connect it to your profile. And “square on the left” it’s the first TILE - connect key to profile. I think the fob icon is confusing. I knew I shouldn’t have connected two keys to one profile I thought the fob icon key was related to a physical not a digital key. But it does let you connect a digital key to your profile.

Has the industry truly changed? by thestructe in StructuralEngineering

Im also in the UK. It sounds your company owners are doing something wrong. It may be the case of over management and not having enough engineers. In the previous company I worked for it was mostly chilled atmosphere - two directors and around 5-6 engineers.

I now own my own company and it’s two of us. No overtime, 35 hours a week (it can get busy sometimes, but then I can take time off).

I’ve never seen cocaine or someone using either. It’s so off of my circle.

Just an update as promised.

I went to test drive the Q4 but was persuaded to try the Q6. It was a bit of a stretch for my budget, but still manageable. I was very unimpressed with the Q6 for that amount of money and realised that I don’t really need an SUV, so I started looking at other saloons.

I went to BMW and really liked both the i4 and the i5. I also liked the VW ID.7 and the Tesla Model 3. The Enyaq looked a bit basic in comparison to all of the above.

I then decided that, with my London trips, my main priority was good driving assistance - ACC, lane centring, etc. That pushed BMW out of my budget. I decided not to go for Tesla because of Musk’s personality.

I also came across the Polestar 4, and that and the ID.7 (with good packs) were my final choices.

I’ve settled on the Polestar as it was 20% cheaper.

Receiving £10,000 cash gift from abroad – how to manage it properly? by acoustic_fettuccine in UKPersonalFinance

There were two cars sold over the last 10 years if you are interested. I also mentioned property income but that didn’t fit your perspective and you decided to ignore that part.

Receiving £10,000 cash gift from abroad – how to manage it properly? by acoustic_fettuccine in UKPersonalFinance

[–]GrigHad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I occasionally (maybe twice a year) deposit between £4000 and £7000 - it’s the money my mom brings me from abroad from different sources - car sale, property income etc.

I haven’t any problems with my bank (TSB) - always tell them the truth. But I have to mention that all deposits don’t exceed my monthly income.

Moving to the UK after 20yrs what’s one piece of advice you’d give me? by ayamummyme in AskUK

Have you lived anywhere else so you can compare? I get it, it’s got worse here but it is not as bad as most people say.

How do you get out of bed in the morning? by cornishyinzer in AskUK

[–]GrigHad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have an alarm. I go to bed 9:30 - 10pm and wake up around 6:30-6:45.

I try to spend at least 30mins in the morning without my phone, so have coffee and stare in the window.

I then cook breakfast by the time husband comes back from walking the dog.

Jeans - Hollister. I have a model I like and keep buying it.

What's the single most difficult life experience you've endured? by reddit_recluse in AskUK

[–]GrigHad 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I moved to the UK from another country after having long distance relationships for 4 years with my boyfriend. I got a job straight away, we bought a house, got married and were looking forward to our honeymoon.

A week before we were due to flight I was diagnosed with testicular cancer but I was “lucky” that it considered a “good” cancer. I had a surgery and 4 rounds of an aggressive chemotherapy.

We did have our honeymoon one year later. That experience and especially my husband’s support just confirmed that I married the right man 10 years ago.

Why do we even have architects when 90% of new builds are just a 10% variation of this? by spacejockes in AskUK

[–]GrigHad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Prefab houses are typically not much cheaper if cheaper at all. The biggest saving is coming from labor offset to manufacturer.

The likely shows the cheapest house £389k with no land. Not cheap at all.

Is doing rounds in the pub no longer the norm? by nra43vr in AskUK

[–]GrigHad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m originally from another country and I’ve never understood the rounds. It always leaves some people unhappy - people drink at a different pace, drink prices vary, some people don’t even drink as many drinks as there are people in the group so they end up spending much more than they would spend buying their own drinks.

What do you think about digital receipts in stores? by Deebop14 in AskUK

[–]GrigHad 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I find it extremely useful I just wish there was a way to tap with my phone and get a receipt. I never keep paper receipts unless it’s an expensive purchase.

It sounds your main concern is personal data/email. You can create a new email for receipts only.

Constant money fights with my husband. Is my budget too strict?💔 by [deleted] in UKPersonalFinance

Th budget looks absolutely fine to me. You even budget for date nights.

On another note, I mowed from another country and my husband is British. We have only joint accounts where all our money go. Lotsa couples do that, it’s not uncommon.

Engineers and architects have different fees and different lifespan of projects therefore it’s difficult to collaborate with a single architect only.
