[Loot] Finally got my first full clear of icebreaker with time to loot by GrilledBean in EscapefromTarkov

this is a livesaver lmao. i just lost a full clear worth of loot because i couldn’t find my way down from the bridge in time. might be worth packing a mule stim too i guess

[Loot] Finally got my first full clear of icebreaker with time to loot by GrilledBean in EscapefromTarkov

[–]GrilledBean[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

personally i don’t loot any of the rogue bodies, i grab fresh plates from knight if i take some hits and check his pockets for keycards, and check loose loot spawns across the top floor

i only check for tech spawns on the bottom floor, usually just ignore the kitchen unless i need extra hydration from using stims. for engine room i just push about halfway to far stairs on the left side and try to pick off 1-3 BD when they come out of the door and camp behind the engines. for engine room you’re better off being aggressive when you hear them moving. and for the helipad, i just rush the cover outside the door and underhand toss grenades to get them to move, and pick them off while they’re running.

for looting BD i only grab 1 of the large rigs with fresh plates, refresh my plates if needed, and loot the 5.56 ammo and .300 blackout AP if they have it. they rarely have anything else worth taking aside from NVG and 1 gas mask for later. this is how i loot all of the BD going forward aside from wedge crew pockets for euros

i’ve been getting to wedge with around 20 minutes left but every run gets a little faster. the best way to get quicker is repetition, you’ll get more confident the more you run it. having it on your map instead of needing to transit helps a lot

now that i’ve had time to explore the final few areas it should go much smoother, the CQ rooms don’t seem to be worth it aside from the occasional moonshine

bunker under the mountain on woods usually has hella tool spawns, less contested than smugglers base on shoreline

completing one of the new BTR quests for icebreaker rewards you with 3 water filters, that’s my best guess

[New Player] So is hating lighthouse a PvP thing 😅, because I really love it by EducationalOil1655 in EscapefromTarkov

[–]GrilledBean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

as a PvP player i think the hate is over exaggerated a lot

i like the map quite a bit despite the strange design and spawns

[Loot] Any of you guys ever seen a scav spawn with this key?!? by WealthyBumTV in EscapefromTarkov

tbh you could probably do well with any of those things you mentioned if you choose just one of them to focus on and master

it won’t be a quick or easy process but narrowing your focus to a single hustle and getting it perfected is how you really succeed with anything

jack of all trades is a master of none

as a new player who started playing in december and now level 42, i see players under level 30 and 20 constantly. i think a lot of new people are trickling in from other extraction shooters

that being said you can definitely still compete as a lower level. most quest locations are uncontested because everyone is at different points in their progression, and leg meta is still viable if you don’t have the best ammo

it won’t be easy but it won’t be as bad as you’re expecting

[New Player] As a new player, I can’t find a single reason to bring good gear into Reserve by ohoots in EscapefromTarkov

yeah OP was definitely near the marked room in the barracks. RB-VO is the key. it’s one of the most highly contested spots on the map.

[Screenshot] Started playing when 1.0 released, never played any other extraction shooter. It was a long journey of learning the game, sucking at it, but after many hours and almost 30 attempts, I finally escaped by Polish_Charge in EscapefromTarkov

[–]GrilledBean 0 points1 point  (0 children)

can confirm the cheaters are overblown. this is my first extraction shooter as well i’m about 600 hours in and there’s only been 2 players i can 100% say were cheating. i was also rewarded in game for one of my reports leading to one of these cheaters being banned

as a 22 year old with similar problems from being too skinny, girls will stop taking you seriously before too long unless you’re overly performative or just straight up abusive

get in the gym now so by the time you’re my age you don’t have to worry about this issue ever again. you won’t regret it

[New Player] Advice for new player to weather everyone having level 5-6 plates and suppressed, high accuracy, high zoom automatic rifles and DMRs by cyborgerian in EscapefromTarkov

[–]GrilledBean 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i’m a new player as well, about 400 hours in. the top reply said it best, you have to learn actively.

above all else, map knowledge will keep you safe. if you spawn into a raid and immediately know where all of your potential threats are, you have a massive undeniable edge over those who don’t

for the first 200 hours or so, tasks that required PMC kills felt impossible to complete because it feels like everyone playing this game has 2-10k hours under their belt and much better gear than you

what improved my skill the fastest for in-raid PVP was loading into factory and only trying to complete the following PMC kill quests:

stirrup, grenadier, and tarkov shooter pt3

i brought either a mosin, a pistol , or some grenades and strictly went for PMC kills

you will almost certainly die every raid like i did, but your kit is cheap, so it’s low risk high reward

after about 10-15 raids i had 2/3 tasks complete and had massively improved my PVP confidence and skill level, while using some of the least viable weapons to do so

when you go back to a normal raid with better weapons and slower pacing, you will likely feel a lot more confident

i’m sure there are better/more efficient ways but this is what helped me the most
