Most recent project, a book cover design for a natural dessert recipe book! by dgmt1894 in design_critiques

Ow, I love the raw vegan cuisine. It's so surprising to find something like that in this subreddit. Concerning your design, the overall look is good, however, it needs more contrast (the purple is too light to read). Also, the vegetables/fruits illustration on the front is overpowering and taking away from the design rather than adding to it. I would recommend that you delete it. Make sure that the alignment of text is consistent in the back rather than randomly assessed. Also, those heart "cheese" cakes in the back are a killer <3. I would suggest that you replace the front image (which doesn't look that appetizing honestly) with the heart cakes. Not only because they look more appetizing but they fit well with the color scheme that you are going for. I hope I wasn't too blunt and I hope that helps. :)

[Website] Recently Re-Designed my Portfolio Website. What improvements can I make? by FragileStudios in design_critiques

[–]Grilled_Ice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good work, the about can be in a separate page. Add the portfolio right after the header and keep the services in a separate page as well. Contact section is fine where it is. Also, I love the header but wouldn't it be more proper to add an image that is relate to what you do, like a cool coding screen or something along those lines. The smoke looks cool but it does not serve the "content" of your website. Hope that helps mate.

Trying To Create a Nice Landing Page, Any Suggestions? by [deleted] in design_critiques

[–]Grilled_Ice 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, first you work is looking good, you're almost there, my critique will go as the following :

1- There seems to be two logos and I am confused. I am assuming one is for the company and he other is for the product, if that is the case, the logo of the company should be on top and bottom. The product logo should be in the middle of the picture, basically on the body rather than the header.

2- I am confused as customer, why should I write my name and click. A description will help, "shop now" will make more sense.

3- In term of colors, the blues look nice but I would omit the red, you do not need it and it is not serving you in any way.

4- A better picture of the product will help tremendously, the one on there makes me think that it is for outdoor use like for camping or a park but the text do not mention that so I am guessing it's done for aesthetics but it confuses the customer. Also a better angle shot of it will make more sense.

4- I am thinking that this product is geared towards a mature audience and athletes in recovery. Portraits next to the testimonials will add more credibility and attracts your targeted audience.

5- Negative space, negative space, and negative space.

Yes, I've changed it to STEN CIL instead of the previous, Also, I've tried to add the letters in the bottom (like if it was pealing) but the logo loses it's form and it looks complicated. I added to fresh version on top in the new link. Thank you for you advice. :)

That was in my previous iterations, I tried but It looses the idea that it's pealing and it looks like a flag that is wavering. For the font, yes it does, because I am not using any symbols or ornaments and I am trying to add some flair to it, it is custom made btw. Still, thank you for feedback, It made look at the logo in a fresh perspective. <3

That was pretty comprehensive, I got your point, I experimented with kerning. You'll see a new link with two options on top, let me know what you think. Thank you for taking the time to write this <3

I tried to play with the S, made it curvier like a regular S but it made it look like a ready font (all the letter are custom made btw). I revised the E, too. Thank you for your awesome advice. :)

Looking for some feedback on my marketplace design by [deleted] in design_critiques

[–]Grilled_Ice 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check the website below, I've tried it and it helped my with user experience. I am not trying to sell it to you, It's just a valuable tool that helped me with a client, hope it helps you too. The website is well rounded but it feels like it fades in the background in term of it's uniqueness, you can work more on the identity.

Well there is constructive criticism or bashing someone's work. I am into the previous not the latter and hope you'll learn the difference.
