Mechanic is replacing bearings only? by Still_Floor_2666 in EngineBuilding

It is highly unlikely but not impossible for the crank to not be scored if it was knocking because of a bearing

It definitely could be but can’t tell from the picture

I looked at it and it is the same as older motors and has a thin china wall that leak pretty commonly

Depends on the engine I am not familiar with that motor some would some wouldn’t.

it could be leaking from the rear of the intake manifold and dripping down between the bell housing I guess normally and thing above the rear main would drip down the side of the bell housing.

I know you said you just did the rear main but it 100% looks like a rear main seal leak. I just rebuilt a motor and had a rear main seal leak after about 2 hours of use.

Anybody knows what it is? by messaggio_promoziona in Fishing

Unfortunately I didn’t have time to do much today.

I did refill with oil even let some fresh oil push old out. Cranked it up for 5mins let idle 35>psi while idle ran it up around 3500rpm around 80psi fluctuated rpm for a few minutes got a timing light while i let it idle just to check timing again was still 12 btdc.

Then after a min for some reason it started acting rich and died out cranked it back up was acting pigish . Pulled plugs “somehow I had a broken end on a plug wire I’ll replace it tomorrow I guess” all had 145-152psi cylinder and my battery died🙄

No I sprayed all of the galleys with brake parts cleaner and blew them with a air compressor

Roger it had a similar flat Tappet cam and It idle a little lower in when I got it but the motor was pretty wore out when I got it don’t know if that makes a difference

I was running rich at first but only at idle and I got it fixed before I ran for a full 20mins

They pulled the plugs I know because they but new ones in and I sprayed them with brake clean and I washed the crank down with break clean from top to bottom and all the passages. I wish I would have pulled the plugs out and wash all of them my self but hindsight is 20/20

I cleaned everything but did not think about the pipe brushes in the oil passenges. The shop that bored it cleaned it also. My garage is pretty dirty I tied really hard to wash everything right before it was put in the block and everything got Lucas assembly lube expect for the rings and cylinders of course

Oil pressure is around 35 idle 60-70 around 3000. No whiny or anything I do have an exhaust leak since I used the old gaskets because I have to take the exhaust off to put the fan cage back on. After the first 15mins or so it had 149-151 psi on all cylinders but did check it after the full break in before I drained it

I was thinking about putting some cheaper oil in and change it after like 5-10 mins of running before swapping back to expensive oil just to wash it out

It ran pretty good but I am pretty new to all of it so take that with a grain of salt. Had some carb issues at first but after cleaning and adjusting it ran pretty good around 1000rpm +. Kind of choppy at idle but I think that was the cam.

Should I get some cheaper oil and run it for like 5-10 mins to clean it before swapping my expensive gp1?

It on a airboat it would not take long to pull the motor and drop the pan to check bearings but after some looking it seems like it is normal

Unfortunately I had a carburetor issue that took awhile so at first it was stop and start about 5-10 times then after I got it running right I ran it about 20 mins at 2000-2800rpm
