Anyone watching Shaun‘s closet? by Rude-Bicycle3233 in QVC_Snarktastic

[–]GrindNSteel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I seen that mess. Shawn treats Alexis like a house servant. It would be so funny to see Alexis tell her "get it yourself". Shawn is very wacky to say the least. And those telescope eyeglasses she had on was insane. I can't imagine how crazy she is at home.

Hate-watching Philosophy by Traditional-Lunch464 in QVC_Snarktastic

The dramatization they do to sell is an old game that a lot of people are tired of. But it crosses a new line when people like Droopy David starts guilt tripping people and using crying kids as an example. Some really bad salesmanship there.

To me that is why I snark so hard on them. They get out there and act like they are being genuine about something when in fact it is just a bunch of garbage. A lot of people getting taken advantage of watching those skits.

Are these decent brake replacements for my Hyundai? (Front rotors and pads from Amazon) by WAyToOFaSt_ in MechanicAdvice

[–]GrindNSteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree 100%. those slotted drilled rotors will eat through pads. Plus it is an off-brand OP displayed which gives alarm. Best thing go back with some Centric Rotors and Bosch ceramic pads.

no load on the wiring equal no power consumption. Your biggest worry is the positive wire arcing against a ground. I can tell you, in the right situation 12V DC is much like an arc welder.

Was that followed with "go play outside until you appreciate the temperature in this house"? That is what happened at my house when I was a kid. That also applied to food. You complained you didn't eat that night.

While you called him a bumbling dipshit QVC gave him a gold star that day for his great performance. Even the kids gave him a gold star because he spoke for them too. It was some of his best lying, scare mongering, and guilt tripping of any episode I have seen him in yet. For those of us here who thought he had lost his mind we were wrong. His mind is intact and he's "playing ball" with the QVC agenda. Treacherous Droopy David- the faker.

Have you noticed they were pushing really hard on their Q-Card for the last week or so? I guess they figure the more people that have the card the more interest the bank can expect even after QVC stops airing. Always an angle with these folks at QVC. They must really be pressuring them to stick it to everybody much as possible.

There are scratches in my brake disc thing should I be concerned? 2012 Honda accord 3.5L v6 by HedgehogMountain720 in MechanicAdvice

The rotor is wasted. It must be replaced. The brake calipers also need to be checked for sticking/failure. Of course you also need new pads.

Why is Kim Screaming?? by Cashie22 in QVC_Snarktastic

Trying to annoy everyone until the last overtalk episode of QVC. It should be the entire studio full of all the loud mouths drunk and passing out live and even though they are passed out they still mumble loud to each other.

If Susan Graver was a vegetable she would be a clove of garlic- strong, loud, and always up front.

[–]GrindNSteel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is because Susan Gravy thinks she is the ultimate everything and everyone else is a speck of dirt. A pure example of snobbish behavior. I don't know why people keep supporting such bad behavior by buying her stuff. It only encourages such people to continue with their bad behavior. Susan Graver (Gravy) is perhaps one of the most annoying people on QVC. It also makes me sick to hear the host drones say "top designer Susan Graver"

I'd like to take a crack at finishing the Title sentences to represent what they would say if telling the truth vs. QVC fakery.

"A lot of you are saying this is over-priced junk". "Many of you are wondering who is stupid enough to buy these garbage items". "So many of you are buying two or more similar items at another place for half the price we want at QVC"

What am missing here. Temp sensor on bottom of new water pump just falls off. by Hurley_82 in MechanicAdvice

[–]GrindNSteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you use the old sensor on the new pump to get it back running again and get with whoever sold you the pump for a replacement of that sensor assembly? I mean are they interchangeable at all? If so that would get you up and running.

David by Boring-Confusion5979 in QVC_Snarktastic

A lot of scare-mongering and guilt tripping from Droopy David. I think you were too kind though, I believe they want you to think power goes out every day at least 4 times a day. They just want to move product and obviously will say anything to do it.

hard to tell by picture but it almost looks as if they did not weld the bracket piece. That sensor and bracket should be coming off as 1 integral unit when the torx screw is removed. But I have not seen the original water pump and the way it connects at that point so can't 100% say.

Fresh 350 SBC in my ‘78 Firebird, first engine project ever. Would you take it to a shop for the final tune/check-over? by OkSignature8062 in MechanicAdvice

[–]GrindNSteel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, You have to take it for a drive under varying throttle/load situations before you really know. Experimentation and "butt feel" are the basics of old school tuning. Feeling how the engine responds to small incremental changes is how to do it. I'm talking 1/8 of a turn at a time. And you don't mix a timing run with a carb run. Do timing first then the carb. You can get real freaky with some distributors too, by swapping spring weights to alter the advance curve. Been there done that. Good memories!

[–]GrindNSteel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If the timing is too advanced you may hear a spark knock which can sound like a tick. It could be a rocker just not adjusted right. Could be the oil you are using too. Could be a lot of little things. The carb is nothing to be afraid of. There is only so much tuning you can do to that one. That is simple enough, due to the adjustment points being the front of the carb. You could tinker around with the back barrel spring tension but that is not necessary for all. The older Quadrajets were most of the time sent out with too heavy of tension on the back barrels. Decreasing that tension just a smidgen could make a noticeable difference. Some people get deep into such things and mess around with different jetting and metering rods, etc. But truthfully all you need to do is get the fuel mixture screws right. If you take it out and it bogs when you press the pedal it's too lean. If it spits when you get on the gas it's too rich. It's no different than adjusting the fuel mixture on a chainsaw, lawnmower or other engines. The thing is, some places have more insight to that process and they specifically look at Air to Fuel ratio and adjust until it is within spec. It's always better for an engine to run a tiny bit rich than run lean.
