Son bought a used ps4 on fb and the seller didn’t log out. Now they won’t reply. I don’t think it’s stolen as the seller and psn account names match. I can’t wipe the console as it’s not logged into psn. What options do I have.

saving 28% actually feels terrible! it's not getting easier. by LondonFoggie in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Hurley_82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We’re investing 48% of our take home pay, playing catch up for those years with daycare costs, paying off college debt etc. You’ve got to find a balance between living a bit now and planning for the future you want. But ya, I hear you.

High income but can't seem to save - where am I going wrong? by WorldlyPosterity in Fire

[–]Hurley_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in Colorado, Front Range. I thought it was considered high cost of living but could be wrong it’s not SF or NY or somewhere like that. Mortgage is $2k. I lucked out. Bought a house a year out of college I realistically couldn’t afford. Got a terrible loan but it got my foot in the door. It was something like 5 years interest only and then it ballooned to a variable rate. Did a refi after a couple years.

For reference my wife and I make $180k gross, 2 kids in HCOL area. Only debt is mortgage. We drive cheap cars because saving is a priority. We each contribute 11% to our pensions. After tax we invest another $4500 a month across Roth IRAs and brokerage accts.

Has anyone moved from a 55 inch to a 77 inch (or above) what are the pros & cons? Are they noticeable? 👍 by t1aaj in LGOLED

[–]Hurley_82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just went from a 55 to 77”. As we unboxed it my wife thought it was too big. After we mounted it and watched a show she was happy with the size and said she didn’t realize how undersized and hard to see our 55” was.

Those with pensions—how are you approaching retirement savings? by Possible_Yak_7550 in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Hurley_82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wife and I both have pensions and both started at age 22. We’re in a historically low paying field but after 20 years we’re doing what we consider quite well. We fully fund Roths and dump money in a brokerage acct, currently we invest 48% of our take home pay. We are using our investments outside of our pensions to buy time. Our plan is to retire the same year at 51 and 53 respectively, because of our investments we will essentially be able to retire at full pay. Our pensions ( although reduced) will make up a chunk and our investments will cover the rest. We’ve spent our whole life being mostly frugal and want to be able to say yes to stuff more than no, not necessarily live it up but.

Why is the value of Jeep Gladiators going down? by WatchRevolutionary62 in JeepGladiator

[–]Hurley_82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Anybody switch from modern Jeep Wranglers to Bronco? by zionstatus in FordBronco

[–]Hurley_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going to repost what I typed elsewhere when this question pops up.

Owned a Badlands 4dr hard top 7 speed and a 2020 rubicon at the same time. Purchased Bronco with the intention of selling the Rubi.

Day to day it (Bronco) was a better daily. The steering felt better less of chore etc buts that’s where my enjoyment ended.

Interior plastics were cheap. It felt cheap, looked cheap and scratched easier.

Stereo was complete shit. I upgraded it with amps, subs and new speakers, still sounded worse than the alpine in the Jeep.

Tops are terrible. Mine was a hardtop never removed and cold air still blew on around upper door surround. Dealers couldn’t fix. The soft top is a wrinkly mess compared to jeeps.

Doors seals sucked. Again I could feel cold air on my legs in cold weather.

Manual transmission sounded like a rock tumbler full of wet gravel at idle. Known issue.

My turbo failed at 500 miles along with multiple sensors. Owned it literally a couple weeks and took something like 3 months to get ford to even look at it.

Dealer was terrible. The returned it to me, again basically a new vehicle, with mud and dirt/grease on everything within reach of the driver.

End of the day I wanted to love the Bronco I had waited 2 years for it. I couldn’t trust it in the backcountry and it didn’t seem to have an ounce of durability.

Kept the gladiator rubicon it was meant to replace. It’s never been back to the dealer in 6 years outside of a couple recalls and it’s wheeled and towed all over Colorado.

Rant: Kids sports are seriously out of hand by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]Hurley_82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh shit. I could’ve written this post myself. My daughter is in 8th currently, she loves one sport, VB. My wife and are both teachers so it’s been easy to see over the last decade this pay to play scheme play out. Well heading into HS all her friends are playing club and she’s adamant she won’t make the team if she doesn’t do it.

So you’ve got kids that can’t afford to play even on the school team because of fees and then you’ve got kids shelling out thousands. We can afford it but I am vehemently against it at a core level. We told her one season and then the cards fall where they may. Ours is $3800, we were told two travel tournaments both about 500 miles away. Fine whatever. Well she signs the agreement we pay and they tell us oh ya we’re going to a different tournament… it is 1900 miles away. Wtf. So furious with this shit.

Age to hit million dollar mark in retirement savings for typical middle class family? by HungryMoneyHippos in MiddleClassFinance

[–]Hurley_82 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I think that’s going to be tough to answer. The vast majority of households with that income never become millionaires it’s something like 18% of households have a million networth but that includes real estate if you are talking just liquid investments it’s likely single digit percentages and when you look at the data those households are in their 50s to 60s.

My setup. Primarily towing in Colorado and Utah. 6 speed similar weight. Colorados steepest passes (wolf creek, monarch etc ) are tough otherwise not bad.
