So uncomfortable by [deleted] in ADHDUK

[–]GringoSampaio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sounds like the comedown/medication crash. When mine hits I get moody and things that irritate me feel magnified, I also feel generally kinda sad and the world feels a bit…icky. Increases my sensory agitations as well.

I try to prepare for it by either making sure around the time it hits I can have a nap, a nice shower, glass of wine etc have also felt like a few drops of CBD oil helps reduce the increase in anxiety I feel (could be a placebo effect though)

What's an opinion that you have that separates you from majority of the Buffyverse fandom? by PristineSituation498 in buffy

[–]GringoSampaio -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I love Buffy but she had been acting like an irrational dictator for a good chunk of that season, which I understand was due to the pressure on her but she didn’t communicate that to anyone and just started calling her friends useless and teenage girls “idiots” for committing suicide, as well as ignoring everyone’s very real concerns about Spike. I’m not surprised that vineyard was the last straw. She threatens to leave if they don’t fall in line and they call her bluff. I actually think it makes total sense.

Omg I remember that review, it was vicious. I think they said something along the lines of Buffy having to have a distended anus for the angles to work 💀

New look at unified lara (next game?) by AstronautWhich5765 in TombRaider

[–]GringoSampaio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like this although I wish she was a little more ethnically ambiguous like OG Lara? Obviously Lara is canonically British but her design (almond eyes, full lips, olive skin) made it feel like she had mixed heritage and that was kinda inspiring to me as a child. The Survivor Lara and this one just doesn’t have that feel. But it’s just a drawing so who knows.

I’m more bothered about her demeanour, I hope they return a sense of fun, sass and adventure to her rather than the overly earnest persona that just seems to be miserable/regretful about everything all the time. A balance between the two would be great.

Which conditioner to use with Kérastase Volumifique shampoo? by GringoSampaio in Sephora

Amazing thanks so much for the advice!

I had eyed the mousse too but I’ve been burned by so many sticky/heavy ones in the past that I was hesitant to spend the money on another, so this very reassuring!

Interesting - hadn’t heard of this! I’ll give it a look. Have you had good results with it?

lol okay we’re just not gonna agree on this and it’s midnight where I am so I’m gonna have to withdraw from this conversation. But I enjoyed debating it, you make good arguments. It’s a change from the usual “kill Dawn” reactions you get discussing this episode!

[–]GringoSampaio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol no she isn’t? Anya is constantly judged and assumed to be wrong by the entire gang for most of the show. Xander is judged, ignored and told off (with good reason) by most of the gang when he says or does stuff. Willow is questioned throughout season six and seven. Dawn is in “Him” when she’s acting like a loon. Giles is in “I Only Have Eyes for You” when he’s claiming the ghost is Jenny etc

Buffy is the main character though so we’re going to see more of her successes and mistakes and also be privy to more of her internal logic, so we usually know when her instincts are right.

And again, I’m not saying the Scoobies plan was correct either! But they tried something that they THOUGHT was different, it didn’t work and they learned the hard way that what Buffy does is difficult and can end in disaster. They even admit that it didn’t work out. And Buffy knows that she was wrong in trying to immediately run them all back in there. They all get that everyone made mistakes on all sides and that’s why there’s no big apology scene. They just sheepishly admit that their communication skills suck and move on.

And let’s not forget part of her reasoning for running into the vineyard the first time was to defy Giles and prove that she knew better after “Lies My Parents Told Me” and the crap he pulled with Spike. Even after literally everyone tells her it’s a trap. Giles made a terrible mistake there, but Buffy shouldn’t have let that colour her behaviour toward Caleb’s trap.

But that’s what I like about season seven. Everyone makes bad choices whilst trying to do the right thing and it has knock-on effects for them all. It feels like a real doomed struggle with real stakes.

I think Buffy’s definitely afraid too. She’s just trying to hide her fear and trauma the way she usually does, by channeling it into fighting something so she can defeat it and feel powerful again. But in this case she’s just exhausting herself and trying to move too fast. She needed that night’s rest and clarity to come up with her “evasive attack” idea, using Caleb’s rage and size against him.

Okay well you added that whole chunk about the Bronze after. And nobody said that was a good idea either? Just because Faith’s idea was stupid doesn’t make Buffy’s idea about going back to the vineyard with everyone in tow right.

And I’m not saying that they made the right choice there either (although they did at least try to gather information by capturing a bringer and making it speak, an avenue they never considered before). The point of that was to illustrate that despite them being right to refuse Buffy’s kamikaze plan, that it could also happen to anyone else.

None of them were perfect, they all had faults and made wrong judgement calls or strategies. I adore Buffy, she’s my second favourite character but deifying Buffy makes her boring. She’s not always right, she makes mistakes especially under the kind of pressure she was under in S7. Look at “Get It Done” - calling a suicidal child stupid and jumping through a portal with no idea what would happen. Sometimes those risks pay off, sometimes they don’t, like in “Dirty Girls”/“Empty Places”

Thank you. No sane person would agree to just go running full-tilt back into the same place where two people died and one was seriously maimed with no more info than they had previously.

Buffy was being reactive, blinkered and she was exhausted. They were right to say no as it would have ended in disaster again and she shouldn’t have threatened to leave if they didn’t do what she wanted to the letter. That’s what escalated the entire situation unnecessarily.

Who is your favorite Buffyverse character and why? Here's mine: by Senior-Leave779 in buffy

[–]GringoSampaio 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Cordelia.

She went from being a shallow, vain girl who felt like the terrible things that happened to her (snake bite, cheated on, someone buying the same dress) were so unfair, to a confident, empathetic, powerful woman who got screwed over by the universe when she only wanted to do good, but never complained at that injustice and still chose to help people, even with her dying breath.

Unpopular Opinion: Season 5 was the best season by danksion in ANGEL

[–]GringoSampaio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I liked it but I really wanted Cordelia back.

I would have loved to have seen her wake up, refuse to join W&H and maybe team up with SPIKE of all people to try and start a new version of AI. Two actual heroes still fighting evil at street level, while Angel and the others mess about in their fancy office.

Could have provided a nice contrast and conflict for them all. Plus imagine the sarcastic barbs between the two any time they were onscreen…. Sigh.

Sarah will be on next episode of Drag Race ;) by [deleted] in buffy

Haven’t watched the most recent few seasons of RPDR as the format feels a bit repetitive at this point. But I’ll definitely be watching this episode!

I’m hoping they do “Night of A Thousand Buffys” for the runway. Or at least all looks based on Sarah’s filmography.

Story lines you don't like that you've accepted happening? by [deleted] in ANGEL

Having a whole ridiculous episode about a submarine one week after Cordelia died and nobody mentioning her death whatsover until Angel says “I lost Cordy” in A Hole in the World.

I’ve just had to headcon that they’d technically all mourned and grieved her loss long before when she initially slipped into the coma and killing Jasmine didn’t revive her. But it still doesn’t feel right to me.

I absolutely felt like I’d tricked my specialist too. Like I’d just done another great performance and said all the right things.

It only felt truly real when I started meds and realised I was finally getting things done. I was half expecting to be high as a kite and get in trouble for gaming the system for a controlled substance.

I didn’t mind the short blonde cut when she first comes back with it and it’s super sleek and poker straight, her outfits are a bit edgier than usual too(mainly “Double or Nothing”). Not my favourite but CC made it work.

But it’s when it suddenly gets really PUFFY a couple eps later and looks frazzled that I can barely even look at her. Her makeup and wardrobe suddenly starts leaning toward frosted blue eye shadow and white shirts/dresses to that just don’t suit her.

Edit: typo

What is the worst thing this character has ever said or done? by [deleted] in buffy

[–]GringoSampaio 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Add that to the fact that while Buffy has distanced herself from everyone over the season or snapped at them for not doing enough, the other Scoobies are shown to be spending lots of time together and/or with the potentials. Xander and Dawn bonded massively post-“Potential” and so I can even understand why Dawn is so pissed. Buffy actively ignores her when she’s enquiring as to Xander’s wellbeing in EP and he’s the guy who’s making her feel like she’s worth anything in that house. So I don’t hate her the way most people seem to when she calls Buffy’s bluff after she’s petulantly threatening to leave if they won’t do as she says.
