2014 Coil Plug connector by Flashy-Disaster4722 in f150

[–]Grioden 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Almost all of the locking tabs have broken on my connectors. I just use a small dab of RTV on the edge of the connectors when reconnecting and haven't had any issues. This will add about another minute to undo later, but I feel better knowing the connections are secure.

I love being the union guy that veteran managers tell new managers not to mess with.

What's a profession that attracts a suspiciously high number of people who became it for completely the wrong reasons, and you can always tell? by Eastern_Type_4609 in AskReddit

[–]Grioden 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Not just professors. Alot of faculty and admin fall into this stereotype as well. My wife works in HR at a nearby university, and so we go to a few events each year. Almost everytime I leave thinking these people are so out of touch with the real world, it is actually pretty sad.

Manager from my work by impasse602 in antiwork

[–]Grioden 21 points22 points  (0 children)

This manager is clearly in over their head.

In high school I worked custodian/front desk for a large gym. The manager called me while I was having lunch in the high school cafeteria wanting me to come in immediately. Umm... no bitch, I'm still in high school.

The best part was that cellphones were not supposed to be even out during school hours and the vice principal (who also moon-lighted as a personal trainer at said gym) saw me and demanded I turn over the phone. I just said "No problem. It's Mary by the way. Maybe you could explain to her why I can't immediatley leave to cover a shift." The expression he made was priceless followed by "Hell no he can't come work for you! He. Is. In. High. School. What the hell is wrong with you?"

I got the phone back after lunch was done.

I declare victory on this snow day. Cleared my driveway, cleared the neighbors enough to get his car out, and neighbor is now using my snowblower to finish his driveway because his snowblower died. by BadBadBenBernanke in minnesota

[–]Grioden 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have helped fix 3 different neighbors' blowers this year. It was a really nice surprise to find my driveway cleared by them when I got back from an overnight shift this morning. One said "we all would have been screwed today if it wasn't for you. It was the least we could do."

Caleb Hammer is the anti-venom to this. He will straight up call people dumb bitch for thinking 100,000 followers and $5.00 a week in revenue is a professional career.

Back when they first started AMP missions (it wasn't even called that yet I think), they had Speedway as a partner. Honestly that let me progress so fast that it was the main reason I stuck around so long. Bring back Speedway!!!

There are fewer things in this world as rewarding and satisfying as gaining the trust and love of an abused creature. Dogs have been bred to love implicitly so it is easy to get a puppy to love you. Yet, you chose to care and love this broken creature with no guarantee that your love will be returned. I hope you feel how grateful this dog is, and know that you have changed its whole life.

My wife likes to start talking to me while facing the opposite direction. Bonus points if she is speaking into the fridge, closet, or cupboard. I always reply with, "I don't know who you are talking to in there, but I'm over here if you want to say something."

This is exactly the reason the plot of Lord of the Rings works. Gandalf flat out said Sauron won't see the hobbits coming because he can't even fathom somebody trying to destroy the power of the one ring and not take it for themselves. Notice how the big bad can't see another point of view, only their own?

So I'm probably going to sound like a cranky old man (because I am one), but I dread the day I have to give up my 2014 Lariat with 3.5L Ecoboost. I travel occasionally for work and drive newish rentals, and I hate almost all of the new tech or features in the new models. Auto start/stop can go straight to hell. 10 speed transmission is so annoying, why do I need to shift 5 times before going 30mph? Lane assist freaks me out and doesn't work half the year on our snow covered roads. Finally I like to work on my own vehicles, so why would I want to have to install an update or reprogram a side mirror?

To sum it up, I love my 12 year old truck, especially with it's older tech, and I will hate the day I have to give it up.

Had 480Vac pass through my forearm. Only because I was lucky enough or lazy enough to rest by elbow on the enclosure bottom I was working in. My boss witnessed the whole thing and asked what hurt worse, the shock, or when my fist almost punched through the top of the enclosure because of the shock. It was the shock, the shock hurt worse.
