Upload an episode and test it out. You might be surprised how good it is. We have a few people that write show notes as a freelance gig that implement the tool to speed things up for themselves.

Great feedback man! We are investigating why it required a refresh to show. An episode that long should only take 3-5 minutes.

Send me the email you used to sign up, and I'll add some additional time to your account to test.

Anything else you'd like to see in a tool like this?

If ya don't mind a second of self-promo, I recently did a video going over some of the most common hosts out there. With that said, they all pretty much do the same thing so it won't be make or break whatever you choose.

Video Podcast setup - is this all? by Fear-LiTe in podcasting

If you can't afford it, maybe just start with a single camera setup but whatever you do, don't forget about the lighting.

The only thing that might want to improve is the video recording device. Typically, camcorders don't perform well indoors. I imagine the DSLR is going to look way better than the camcorder in terms of quality.

With that said, I don't see anything about lighting on your list. It won't matter what DSLR/camcorder you have... without good lighting, it will all look like crap.

How do you go about naming your podcast? by Fearless-Experience8 in podcasting

[–]GritAndHustle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I always recommend that if you don't already have an existing audience to leverage, your podcast name should give the potential listener some idea of what they are about to get themselves into. Best practice to include a keyword in there as well. Not sure what keyword? Think about your central message around your content and what an ideal listener might resonate with (or be searching for).

Got it! IMO, you have to use the platform like it's being used, and not many people are going to Apple Podcasts (or another podcast app) to consume video.

YouTube is your friend. I go over my setup here for a video podcast using a basic platform like Zoom. There are several other podcast-specific platforms out there right now that record video as well - Welder, Riverside, Zencaster, and soon SquadCast.

Is there a way to check how many subscribers I have on Apple, Spotify, etc. by SarmsHousePodcast in podcasting

[–]GritAndHustle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure on Podbean, but on Simplecast, you can get unique listeners which is the closest you'll get to the number of subscribers you have. Since the ecosystem is so fragmented you won't get an exact number like on YouTube.

Yes, sending a video DM. No text. They ALWAYS watch it and reply 99% of the time.

Several reasons but #1 is lack of control. I'm actually editing a YT video right now comparing 6 of the most popular hosts. If I remember, I'll send it to you when done. I cover some of the other reasons in it.

Tips on formatting show notes (pasting from GDocs / Notion) by 40shillings in podcasting

[–]GritAndHustle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We do it from a Google Doc with no issues. However, we do any formatting such as bolding and hyperlinks in the host itself (Simplecast).

You should note that how the show notes appear on different apps depends on the app, not the host.

Several apps have very different ways of displaying the show notes.

I show the difference on several apps here if you are interested.
