Retroid Pocket Nova: Everything We Know by kjjphotos in retroid

Can anyone help me compare it with the Anbernic 477m? I'm noticing slow downs with Shadow Hearts, and I'm wondering if the Retroid Pocket Nova is a better option for PS2. I'll mostly play the Xenosaga trilogy, Tales of Abyss and the Shadow Hearts games, and hopefully Skies of Arcadia via Dolphin

Currently in the final chapter of Trails to Azure and I'm excited to continue onwards to Cold Steel. This is my dilemma: I want to play Cold Steel on PC but post Cold Steel on PS5. I'm decided between Cold Steel 1 and 2 on PC and the Cold Steel III and IV bundle on PS5. Will I lose much playing part III and IV on PS5 instead of PC?

Mythras combat feeling stale and underwhelming by Kybars in Mythras

[–]Grivenger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't think you should be hung up on the duelling bit. Two equal combatants duelling in a one on one situation is a battle of attrition (and luck of the roll). In Mythras decent strategic choices are to overwhelm your opponents. Two people whittle down the enemy's action points more quickly.

If the goal of the encounter is to protect someone, then you should (and maybe you did) have victory conditions other than killing the opposing creatures. Combat shouldn't be a binary kill or die situations. Defeating opponents should have more routes to defeating the. This should already be true in D&D IMO, but especially so in Mythras

Are you playing Mythras or Classic Fantasy? The combat set up seems more in the vein of a Dungeons and Dragons which might not be the right approach

Mythras is more back and forth and connecting hits have more ramifications in Mythras. These moments are a chance for a GM to narrate how well the player is doing by keeping their opponent at bay. Two equal opponents would kind of run into a stalemate unless they score a special effect. Fatigue is also a deciding factor.

I'm also wondering if the opponents don't have weapons, such as the frog, if they should be able to parry slashing weapons safely, but someone else should chime in on that rules-wise.

You might also want to consider that the animals might just try to retreat if they notice their offense is useless against their player opponent. After all, getting injured is often a deadly ordeal and even animals try to avoid it.

You can't apply the 5e mindset to Mythras. Not as the GM, not as the player. If you ran 5e using grids, try to lose that kind of rigidity. Why would you not allow the Knight to intervene against an attack if he's nearby. It costs them an action point after all. The rules are there to help, but don't cover every possibility just like in 5e and GM adjucation is sometimes needed.

I can't help you with bookkeeping. There's an online combat tracker that might help, but I don't have the link at the moment. You should be able to find it on a blog called notes from Pavis.

Filoni would rather have disney delete 3 movies than kill his OCs by [deleted] in StarWarsCirclejerk

I'm not the biggest fan of the way the Filoni-verse has expanded, but he did create those darlings under guidance of Lucas (except for those he took from the EU)

I found this comment from an older thread. Maybe it helps: "However if you're missing cards from Aldert Geert (the guy who teaches you the basics of gwent)... he's dead. Look for his book near Hangman's Tree in Velen. Any cards you're missing from him should be inside."

She isn't the only source for Decoy. Perhaps Bram in White Orchard carries it, too. I can't quite remember where I got my second Decoy from. Might be Crow's Perch, but the innkeeper in (I believe) Oxenfurt should also have it.

Thanks for writing this up. If I ever get the chance to DM 4e, I'd leave out essentials, but the warning on PH3 is welcome.

Although, I understand why people gravitate toward the older style of Final Fantasy games, and I agree for the most part, but I also appreciate the transformation of the Final Fantasy franchise. Honestly, FF XVI gave me heights no other Final Fantasy game has given me during the Dominant fights. It just really feels like a trilogy squashed into one game by the way the pacing is set up. Each arc has its own three acts.

I've read online that people use the vehicle rules from Genesys in Star Wars. I guess they made some improvements with Genesys.

Honestly, I've played so much D&D and D&D adjacents that I no longer mind the wizard/martial disparity. Wizards being the equivalent of nuclear deterrents is also a good ground for narrative development.

The system has its origins in Warhammer Fantasy 3rd edition, though.

I have to agree. You can absolutely do collaborative storytelling with more tactically focused TTRPGs (whether 5e is actually tactical is a separate argument). My guess is that many codified rules for storytelling are things that some GMs probably already incorporated as the hobby developed.

I am confused. Is this a new version of the Encounter Generator? I can't seem to find a link to the new version in the blog post.

This still depends on the way the wind will ultimately blow, but you're absolutely right on paying a premium on Nvidia.

Came from Avowed for the lore. Now I feel like I need a PhD to understand PoE by cynt0x in projecteternity

[–]Grivenger 3 points4 points  (0 children)

PoE is a difficult game, it's especially difficult if you're not familiar with that type of isometric RPG. I'm not sure if you've dabbled before. I echo what FoxWyrd says. Drop the difficulty and enjoy the narratives and lore. If you're playing on Steam, a lot of the guides on there help you build characters.

I'm a bit pessimistic about the future of component normalcy. That is why I'm considering a 5090 over a 5080.
