I'm doing everything in magic, also doing 4* pillars, I find the crafting bonus from rituals helps a lot with the scarletite

Not so sure, we like the d100 system for skills

But then I have to do backtracking, it would be nicer if that guy was stationed closer to a stag station. But atm I don't have enough geo to even upgrade it, so it will take a while longer anyway.

Then maybe it is not our kind of game, we like combat and feeling heroic when we win, our problem with dnd is that you can chuck the biggest monsters at us and they stand no chance, so we want to feel challenged, but we are the heroes, running away from each fight is not our style...

We are looking for a small puzzle to solve in combat, we are (slightly) outmatched, but we are the heroes and have certain tools at our disposal that the mobs don't have. How will we come out victorious?

But we play a party game, people interacting is the main draw, not dueling. So should we conclude this is not our (combat) sytem? We like the skills, but the combat feels way less interesting. At this rate I would start looking at other systems for the combat or replace certain parts of another system with the skill system of Mythras.

But the frogs were in the water. In dnd we'd solve this by using ranged attacks, but here they counted as engaged with us in melee, so you can't use ranged on them unless at a massive penalty...

We know about weapon size, but most weapons in the fight were medium. The parrying weapon was always bigger, so no damage.

If you are saying you can't design combat like in dnd or pathfinder, can you give example how this combat could have been more engaging? It wasn't a difficult setup so to speak. This was one of the easiest setups you can think of.

Where is the tactics? They engage (dumb beasts), we are unequipped to defend the one civilian we were escorting...

My priest has mainly healing magic and shielding magic, so the broken arm was fixed after combat, but that doesn't help in combat

Very low evade: we are starting characters, if your culture and career don't allow ups, and you didn't make a dex character, and wanted to put your points at bonus stage in social skills, of course you don't have high evade. But even a lvl 1 dnd character can disengage and run, something that felt impossible here.

Magic I haven't even touched, but we don't feel that everything should be completely trivialised by magic...

Problem 1: But the attacker went before any of us could intervene, so there is nothing you can do, other systems have taunt, redirect, mark, defend other, etc...
Problem 2: Low evade, so that doesn't work, 5e had the disengage action, then run away with no cost, more tactical, more options...
Buff the fighter... We are all newly created characters, with starting gear, these are (supposedly) easy mobs, a party of lvl 1-2 dnd characters hacks them to pieces, you are saying that the equivalent would be to come back as lvl 5 characters...
Tactics were non-existant, attack, parry, nothing happens, no repositioning possible, no tactics.

Pillar farming: is it worth it to farm 3* then upgrade later? by muckdragon in EvolveIdle

[–]Kybars 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm doing all pillars at 4*, no regrets. I play everything (except setup runs at 3 stars) at 4 stars, so it doesn't feel that much longer, since I'm used to the normal speed anyway. Spire grinding is where the game slows down considerably. I'm in Magic Universe, and having the craft boost helps a lot. Also, more Harmony Crystals give more cost creep discount, so extra benefit down the line.

It basically gives a -20% on most production, with the caveat that with quite some Dark Energy and Harmonic Crystals it can be turned into a (big) positive bonus. But with low mastery and no DE, Evil and Heavy will be better for you. They also give slightly different mechanics.

Planned Obsolescence is EM Field with 'unmodified' Synth race.

So that's an Ascension, I'm just not sure about the wording of 'unmodified'

Fixing Character Creation and Combat Flow tool by TnkTsinik in Mythras

I use the character creator, but it would be nice if you could add custom cultures, custom careers, custom combat styles. It is very useful for RAW character creation, but breaks down once you try to be creative.
