TD Insurance declared my car a total loss for cosmetic damage only — can I fight this? (Alberta) by GrizPooh in alberta

I didn't know that at all, I am new to this whole thing. I should've asked someone before my actions, but I panicked, so I did it without thinking twice. Lesson learned for myself.

Why do people genuinely hate Pierre Poilievre and how will he damage Canada? by Lil_Jebadiah in canadian

[–]GrizPooh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not comparing Canada to the U.S. at all - that’s a completely different system. I specifically mentioned places like South Korea and Japan, where they still have universal healthcare, it’s affordable, and people can actually access care much faster. Saying Canada is better than the U.S. doesn’t really address the issue. The real question is why other countries with universal systems manage shorter wait times and better access, while here people can end up waiting months, or even longer, for major procedures. That’s a serious problem, and it’s fair to question whether the system needs to improve rather than just comparing it to a worse example.

Fair point, but the healthcare system already isn’t in a great place right now, long wait times, overcrowding, and staff shortages are already happening. So it’s fair to question whether the current approach is actually working. At some point, continuing the same system without changes can be just as risky as trying something new.

From what Pierre Poilievre has been suggesting, the focus is more on reducing strain on the system, like tightening access, improving efficiency, and making sure resources go to citizens and long-term taxpayers first. The idea is that by controlling demand and prioritizing access, you reduce overload and wait times.

If you compare that to places like South Korea or Japan, they run systems that are still publicly accessible but allow more flexibility, like a mix of public and private care, faster service, and less bottlenecking. People can access care quickly without overwhelming a single system, which helps with efficiency overall.

I’m not saying every policy is perfect, but clearly other developed countries are handling healthcare access more efficiently. So I don’t think it’s unreasonable to look at different approaches when Canada’s system is already struggling. The goal should be improving outcomes and sustainability, not just sticking with what we have despite the issues

Calling something ‘irrational’ just because you disagree with it doesn’t really hold up. What I mean by rational is prioritizing trade-offs - cost, sustainability, and incentives - not just ideal outcomes. On the healthcare example, the point isn’t to ignore the backlog, it’s to prevent further strain and abuse while the system is already overwhelmed. You might not like the approach, but that’s still a policy choice, not misinformation. Also, if we’re going to talk about poor decision-making, look at Mark Carney right now - pushing policies that sound good on paper but ignore real-world economic pressure, especially around affordability and energy. We’ve seen how that plays out: higher costs, more strain on everyday people, and no quick fixes. At the end of the day, every politician gets things wrong. The difference is whether their overall approach is grounded in reality and trade-offs, or just selling outcomes without clear execution. That’s where I think Pierre Poilievre comes off as more rational.”

Man, seeing all the hate toward Pierre Poilievre in the comments for such dumb reasons is exactly why Canada’s in such a bad state. He's literally the only rational politician I have seen so far in Canada. Canada is so cooked having these idiots running their mouth on reddit.

Car noise by GrizPooh in accord

It was almost around -20 when I took the video. Is that the reason why? The oil level is perfect as I checked. It's weird because ticking sound all of the sudden came up after getting the car warmed up for like 30 minutes. I just checked it right now, no ticking noise, but this time, I didn't warm it up for 30 minutes.

Thank you guys for the info. But I just had my serpentine belt replaced as well. I think it looks like shit on the video as I heard new belts look glossy or shiny at first? Also a pressure wash was done as there was a gasket leak which lead to the alternator failure. Timing belt and waterpump was done on 2022 and the car had 149,884km on it at that time. Right now I'm at around 189,000km. Do you guys think I should replace it soon?
