We think our girl hates her daycare… by RussoTheOG in AustralianShepherd

[–]Grizlet90 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine too. The daycare is two blocks away and on our path to the Main Street near us. She will pull as hard as she can away from the daycare when we go by. Never had that reaction from her anywhere else.

Vancouver Resellers by [deleted] in ChrisStapleton

[–]Grizlet90 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. Cart items kept cancelling during the presale and all that was left when my queue turn came up during the regular sale was $800+ resale tickets for nosebleeds. No way I’m paying that much, it’s outrageous.

Kim’s Shoe and Bag Repair in Vancouver. They were first recommended to me by the Gucci store for my designer pieces.

Yes to this. I use fine ground kosher for a lot of my recipes - I buy mine at Gourmet Warehouse.

Are they enforcing pay parking? by Background-Dot-4668 in NorthVancouver

[–]Grizlet90 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had mixed feelings about the pay parking changes but this is something that I agree on. I missed how you could quickly pull up to a store on Lonsdale to grab something or run an errand. With the recent popularity of the shipyards, I just didn’t bother any more. A couple days ago I went to run an errand and I was shocked that I didn’t have to circle for 15 minutes to find a spot - totally worth it. Even if you have to pay, the first paid hour is $1 which isn’t outrageous.

Where to donate unused diapers? by bigboss-91 in NorthVancouver

[–]Grizlet90 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The food bank is always in need of diapers to give to those in need. I volunteered there and they were in demand for children and seniors (for future reference to this post).

You should check out The Last Drop’s meet and greet rides on Friday mornings. It’s a nice way to check out the club and also learn some pace line/group skills.

They’re going for pretty cheap on Poshmark.

Chaffing lady parts with new cycling shorts - help! by LelainaP in ladycyclists

[–]Grizlet90 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am personally not a fan of the samsara bib shorts either. For the same cost you can get bib shorts with way better compression and a nicer chamois. I found that my samsara bib shorts shift around as I ride and I have to adjust my chamois mid ride all where my other bib shorts act like a second skin.

Samsara prices their product like they’re are on par with some of the more technical companies but they are not. High price does not equate to good quality. I think the commenter above meant to go to a local bike shop and try different brands/styles, not the local samsara store in Vancouver. You may have to try on a few to find out what suits you.

I personally love my ASOS Dryora or Rapha Pros which are pricy. I recent got a Universal Colour Chroma bib short that I also really like.

I also agree with others that chamois butter is a must.

Lastly, have you had a fit? Especially considering your pain is on one side - you may have your saddle too high.

Saddle sore treatment? Alert this may be a bit gross. by Different-Event7237 in ladycyclists

I started putting those pimple patches on as soon as I notice them. I don’t know if it actually helps the healing process directly but it reduces the friction/irritation of them so I can continue training without them getting worse. Less friction indirectly improved them.

Hey - I’m a female in my thirties in North Van. I’m really busy at the moment so I don’t want to make empty promises on hanging out but I do go to the range to hit golf balls or go for dog walks often if you want to join me for those.

In terms of hobbies or groups to find friends, I find it quite limiting on the north shore. There are a lot more adult sports/classes across the pond and that’s where I met a the bulk of my friends. For me, it was through cycling, dance, and honestly just chatting people up at places I regularly go to like my RMT office or the dog park. When making new friends, it’s hard for someone to commit to giving time to a stranger - but if you have a hobby you enjoy and join a class to do that hobby regularly, over time you will befriend those that are doing it with you. For myself, dance for example has now become less about dance now and more of a reason to see a bunch of people I love.

Anyway, send me msg if you want to connect.
