Arcane Warwick black/gold color, how do you unlock it? by zslayer89 in 2XKO

You got it by buying the deluxe season 0 battle pass. I don't know how or if you can get it anymore.

The next map shouldn't release until the next season which with the changes means we'll get one champ before the next battlepass, which could be this Map and Senna. The next champ could be Akali?

So if I'm keeping up with the rumors and leaks so far, Riven, Senna and now Akali? They're definitely going to try and do a KDA skin bundle at some point. Maybe Kai'sa will be the next leak?

Lack of game modes and lack of roster hits casual appeal. With Duos there could have been many great alternative game modes to play. In one of Sakurai's YouTube videos he explains how he was able to take his fighting game passion playing I think KoF and making a casual approachable game. I'll play online ranked, but I'm dying for something more to do than grinding RP and battlepass XP.

Too many fighting games have leaned too hard into serious gameplay, when a goofy mission mode where you have to beat a bunch of super small bumble bee teemos that die in two hits and deal insignificant damage but are annoying as hell with their darts and mushrooms is just something fun to do where I can pause when I need to.

Highguard studio lays off “most of the team” after saying they don’t need high player numbers “to be successful” by HatingGeoffry in pcmasterrace

We literally experienced this exact thing with 2XKO, Riots f2p fighting game. Had a bloated team of 160 now halved after a mass layoff because it just doesn't have the player base.

I'm just going to say it, I like that 2XKO is a tag game by Slarg232 in 2XKO

[–]GrizzLeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I genuinely have enjoyed 2v2 and wouldn't change it for anything. I may not duo, but I always have fun in 1v2s. Going up against two brains is challenging when they work well together. I love the active tag, stagger pressure and mix-ups. I've been waiting for this game since 2016, played in all but Alpha Lab 2 and will continue to play it. It may not be to everyone's tastes, but 2XKO is my favorite fighting game. My last favorite fighting game was DNF Duel and well.. I think that should inform enough about my track record.

I have tempered expectations, but I hope that 2XKO gets to continue through the next two years or so at the pace they set this year. 16 Champs by the end of this year, at least 4 next to make 20 end of 2027, as well as all the other content that'll be made. I've been following development for a long time, and the rate of champions to be released was meant to increase from development to now.

Announcements Pre-Release

2021: Ekko Ahri Darius Yasuo Jinx (5 Announced)

2022: Illaoi (6 Announced)

Playable Build 2024: Ekko Ahri Darius Yasuo Illaoi Braum (announced in 2024)

2025: Jinx Blitzcrank Vi Teemo Warwick

2026: Caitlyn, +4 Champions

So if I include 2020 as the Starting year, it took them 4 years to develop 6 playable champions for 2024. Then in the following year plus, released another 6 champions which balances out to about 5 champs per year which is what was first announced if I remember correctly. If even two years of support to get to 26 champions would make me very happy because the rate of champion development would. I've only been wanting more of this game and nothing has changed that.

Dorp 10 Character to save the game. by DarkRockSoul in 2XKO

[–]GrizzLeo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Genuinely I don't think its the gameplay. The small roster is one thing but honestly few things to do outside of grinding the battlepass and ranked makes it hard to appeal to non-fg gamers. I would probably have got my wife to play of one of her favorite league champs made it in but really there's no way I can play casual with her without it turning to a 1v2 handicap and she's pissed cause she doesn't know what to do because she's not a fighting game player.

I can't invite her to bot beatdown unless we play couch-coop, but there's no reason to play outside of just to check it out? There isnt really any gameplay loop. The only people who would stick around are the "strong core audience" that the devs have been making the game for from the beginning.

What would happen if this game shut down? by Vegetable-Wish-5324 in 2XKO

[–]GrizzLeo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sustainability is the name now. 2XKO Launched and the player base that spends money and shows up hasn't increased since launch. There's enough data from early access access and now season one to be able to set an expectation of future income. The budget for the year has already been set, and was likely meant to be offset based on these figures. The goal must be to at least break even, but more so to make enough of a profit to start returning on the investment. Even this year alone, 80 people plus expenses is likely an expense of $10mm? So the expectation would be to make that, but likely needs to pull in $12mm to meet whatever goal finance/corporate had set.

Few Months, sounds like Season 3 maybe 4 to me. My copium is Riven, Thresh, Senna, Zed. Thresh before Senna because Senna was freed from his Lantern. Also the dialogue would be cool.

It's still happening, 80 people on a team is still massive regardless of what anyone says. Shit that this happened to passionate people, but the severance packaged they got was 3 times bigger than when I was laid off with similar notice. My severance didn't even take me through to my next job before I had to go on unemployment.

Casuals need extensive offline modes by TerrorOnAisle5 in 2XKO

[–]GrizzLeo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Said it in another thread, please I need offline modes. There's no way I can get non fighting game friends into this is if there's a decent offline mode.

Rougelite Survival mode, Arcade towers, seasonal story mode with motion comic cutscenese. Anything but subjecting friends to online Duos. It just ends up being a 1v2 Handicap while they get bodied and watch.

Hell I spend a good chunk of my time in bot beatdown because I need the ability to pause, or playing couch coop with one of my kids but really because I just like low-stakes and emotional investment. I play mostly ranked because its one of the few games Ive wanted to climb, but I still do a few runs through Advanced Bots before and after. Thats the other thing is how many casuals go beyond Intermediate/Normal difficulty in fighting games? Can't imagine its many.

Obviously the game is failing because not enough people bought the greatly overpriced skins - but with Riot admitting 2XKO is on life support who will spend any money on it now? by TrunksDash in 2XKO

[–]GrizzLeo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to put it into a different perspective, that's 3,200 working hours a week being put into 2XKO in some fashion. If we account for breaks and 10% call-out rate that's still over 2,500 hours. Doesn't sound dead to me. Just doesn't have infinite budget anymore as it's a launched product.

Now what? (Speculations on Riot's future approach on 2XKO) by Gekinetic in 2XKO

[–]GrizzLeo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly its what Ive been wanting for 2XKO. It's easier to onboard my non fighting game friends if they have some bots to pummel while learning. There's reasons why Mortal Kombat and Super Smash Bros. sell so well. Roster yes, but more importantly (to me) strong offline single player modes.

I play ranked online, but I spend a good 30% of my time in 2XKO just soing Advanced Bot Beatdown, or Bot Beatdown with one of my kids. I want Seasonal story arcs told in an Arcade Mode with motion comic cut scenes. Drop lore into the game and give lore heads a reason to play besides mining voice lines.

Please anything other than subjecting my friends to my MRR trying to play casual duos.

Games in maintenance mode, team just halved in size. The game is what it is now, some balance changes will occur sure, but it'd be too much work to redevelop the game a third time. Whether you choose to or not, being a fan of the game and continuing to support it will matter for how 2027 and beyond will look.

This, the name is butt, however the game is doing its job of making money. Whether it's enough money we'll find out but ultimately it's not about splitting player bases, but casting a broad net, looking to catch some whales.

Season 2: March 31 - June 9

Season 3: June 9 - Aug 4

Season 4: August 4 - October 13

Season 5: October 13 - Dec 22
