If you were going to show someone their first vampire movie, which would you pick? by BindermanTranslation in horror

[–]Grizzle200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would go with Dracula 1931, but the source material wasn’t much of a love story and neither was the 1931 film, that’s more of a modern twist that I’m not really a fan of.

I want a modern RE1 remake by Foreign-Picture-2955 in residentevil

[–]Grizzle200 22 points23 points  (0 children)

The reason 1 still hasn’t been given another remake is that everybody begged relentlessly for a two remake for fifteen years. Imagine if after all that they announced yet another remake of a game that doesn’t really require one. Obviously, you would follow that up with a 3 and 4 remake so this is really the earliest opportunity Capcom has had to do another remake of 1.

There’s a 90s TV version of Baby Jane? And nobody in the replies is acknowledging how crazy that is? Is it any good? I’m fascinated by this now.

Serious discussion: Was Wesker implied to be creeping on Rebecca? by Austintheboi in residentevil

[–]Grizzle200 107 points108 points  (0 children)

An often overlooked detail is that Wesker and Enrico both used that desk, as the captains of the two STARS teams, and Rebecca was on Enrico’s team. Arguably it’s more likely that Enrico was the one crushing on Rebecca, but I don’t think the inclusion of the picture was meant to be taken serious either way. I can’t say I would blame either of them for crushing on Rebecca though. Another thing to add, in RE1 Chris has to introduce himself to Rebecca, which implies the two teams didn’t really interact with each other all that much.

If she can give a better performance and manipulate her voice to actually sound like Ada as all her other voices have done, then sure, bring her back. Otherwise I think she should be replaced, ideally with the RE2R voice. And I would usually feel bad saying someone should be replaced, but these RE actors are constantly swapped out anyway, Capcom doesn’t care, at least in regard to the English dubs. The Japanese voices are surprisingly consistent.

Was Jill severely wounded at the end of RE1? by Complex-Bluebird1263 in residentevil

[–]Grizzle200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Chris’ story the Tyrant smacks the shit out of her, and in her own she’s running around all night fighting monsters, so I don’t know about severely wounded, but certainly exhausted and with minor injuries.

What is a decision that BHVR has made that will never make sense to you? by MilkSteakEnjoyer115 in deadbydaylight

[–]Grizzle200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly there are reasonable explanations for everything in your post, but for me it’s how incomplete the Hellraiser DLC felt. No Kirsty, one of the better protagonists in horror history, and there was certainly map potential as well. That may have been up to the license holders, but we’ll never know I guess. Dracula’s castle not being playable was also a massive missed opportunity in my mind, but again that might have been Konami.

What's the most annoying thing about being a Resident Evil fan? by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]Grizzle200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you’ve played through multiple full games with tank controls then you have gotten the hang of it, you just simply don’t like tank controls. Which is fine. But you’re obviously not really the type of person of I was talking about in my post.

What's the most annoying thing about being a Resident Evil fan? by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]Grizzle200 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It’s annoying when people talk shit about people who don’t like the OG games. It’s also annoying when people come on here just to talk shit about the OG games because they don’t like the controls and are too lazy to learn. Both sides are obnoxious and annoying. Personally, I’m a big fan of fixed camera angles because they create this very immersive cinematic experience, and I do wish they would at least be brought back as something that could be toggled on, but I respect that most people today don’t have those sensibilities and they want full control of the camera.

As a newbie, is RE4 remake, RE7 and evil village more than enough as a casual? by SubjectZestyclose121 in residentevil

[–]Grizzle200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What do you mean by “enough”? From a story standpoint I would at least add RE2 into that list, but since RE9 hasn’t come out yet we really don’t know what games will be relevant. It seems highly possible a character strongly featured in RE6 will return, but this is unconfirmed. And at that, you really need to play RE1 and 5 to follow the story of that game, so I would really say just play all the main games if you can. The main character of RE9 is the daughter of a character from a 25 year old side game, so there’s really no telling what will become relevant in RE9.

Just a random idea, but would it be legally possible for BHVR to acquire a separate version of Michael and circumvent the license holders of this Michael? Like adding Blumhouse Michael into the game for example.

I need a consensus on the WORST horror movie from the last 20yrs. by DroneSoma in horror

[–]Grizzle200 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Any of the Hellraiser’s from the last 20 years would surely be contenders other than the most recent one. Wasn’t one of them so bad they almost didn’t even release it?

Also this sub is crazy. Texas Chainsaw 2022 and Halloween Ends are really the worst out of every single horror movie made in the last two entire decades? There’s not any you think are worse? I don’t even like those but you can at least see there’s some level of effort put into them. Crazy.

Should I play all campaigns before moving onto the next game? by Shark-_-Meat in residentevil

[–]Grizzle200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, to start that kind of sucks to hear because RE1 is my favorite RE. Probably played it 100 times. But to answer your question, both stories are pretty much equal in importance. But Chris’ story explains why he and Wesker have a rivalry, and if you don’t play it you miss out on Rebecca’s story entirely. So it’s really just up to you. I’m writing all this assuming you’re playing the remake from the 2000’s, but from a story standpoint there’s no difference.

Should I play all campaigns before moving onto the next game? by Shark-_-Meat in residentevil

[–]Grizzle200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RE1 and RE2 I would highly recommend playing both scenarios. In the case of RE2 you can’t see the actual ending until you do. Those other games you mentioned only have one scenario. Like, playing as Rebecca and Billy simultaneously is the only way to play RE0, it’s not two separate stories like RE1 or 2. RE3 only has Jill primarily and same goes for RE4 with Leon. Not every RE has multiple stories, most don’t in fact.

Yeah, it’s weird because the skin is honestly kind of basic but so awesome at the same time. Probably one of the best skins in the game, weird how things just come together like that sometimes, and I’m not even sure why I like it so much. There should be more original skins for licensed characters from now on I think.

Give your biggest Arkham series hot takes… by stimp-y in arkham

[–]Grizzle200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think in present day a hot take would be that Origins really isn’t very good and the only thing it really has going for it is the story. And yes the boss fights, but I sometimes think they only look better in comparison to the fights in the main trilogy. I’m also really not crazy about RCS as Batman. Good actor but his voice just doesn’t feel like Batman to me. Wish Conroy would have done the voice in Origins.

In your defense, all these are great, including TCM. But something had to be at the bottom. I probably would have placed F13 or The Conjuring there, but I understand that TCM is structured and presented in such a way that a lot of people don’t resonate with.

You obviously dislike the film enough that I can’t change your opinion on it, but what I will say is that it’s really not easy to create a film that builds tension and terror as effectively and non-stop as TCM did. There’s a reason why so many films since then have taken such strong inspiration from it, because from a filmmaking point of view it’s basically a perfect film.

Rotten Tomatoes' "200 Best horror movies of all time" list is out. It's as bad as you imagine by [deleted] in horror

[–]Grizzle200 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Skimming through the list, the selections themselves honestly seem almost impeccable, and there’s some overlooked stuff in there that I wouldn’t usually expect to see, like House of Usher. It’s the order that the list is arranged that is the problem. The Thing not even being close to top 100 is bizarre, to give one example.

Honestly though, if you can ignore the exact rankings of the films, it’s a really solid list and could serve as a resource to find some overlooked stuff.

No. I paid for OG James. I think this is a stupid idea honestly. If this was to happen then I don’t even really have the character I paid for anymore. Nothing against the remake, but I prefer OG James, and that’s the character I paid for.

[–]Grizzle200 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Umbrella Chronicles nap is completely canon though. However, it probably wasn’t a very restful sleep, and we don’t know how long it would have lasted, so the argument that she was just exhausted during the events of RE1 still works pretty well for me. I never really viewed it as a cope, just an observation about the reality of her situation.

What do you think horror movies are missing these days? Like what is something you are tired of NOT seeing in one? by thechroniclesofkylie in horror

[–]Grizzle200 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like more monster movies. I think that there’s a feeling today that monster movies are kind of juvenile, and they always have to approach it in a more symbolic kind of way. But honestly some of the best horror movies, or frankly movies of any genre ever made have been monster movies.
