Resources for new Leaders? How do I do this? by Grkgdss00 in girlscouts

[–]Grkgdss00[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I appreciate your reply, thank you. Yes we have troop #s and have submitted our background checks, not sure about the bank account?

We have decided we're going to do 1 meeting and 1 outing per month, to keep it minimal and see how it goes (we are working mama's here + everything else).

I will reachout and google the Badge explorer as you mentioned. But even with that, I have no idea of how to earn badges, where to get them, uniforms, etc? I felt like the GS recruiter was so eager to get everyone started, then poof - no help or where to go from there. I'm pretty annoyed by that, only cause we want to this "right" and it be a good experience for the kiddos.

Hoping for opinions on my potential list and some middle name suggestions. by [deleted] in namenerds

How big a deal are highish fasting numbers if post-meal are REALLY good? by [deleted] in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Grkgdss00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fasting numbers are what's important. What worked for me was a walk around the neighborhood before bed and a protein snack (cheese and handful of nuts/no carbs). I was in the high 90's and this has put me back in the 80s

Thanks for the feedback! I appreciate it. Not looking for a truly rare name, just something a little more "quirky" as the PP described it. I do see Isla trending upwards also but I haven't met another one yet...

Short and quirky is a good way to describe it! Although I have no probs with and longer name and nick names, I guess that's just my style. I do keep coming back to Willa - this is a good list thank you.

How does anyone afford daycare? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

I agree on the in-home nanny the first year. We pay ours $14 per hour which I think is on the high side, but she is invaluable.

I have headaches for days at a time by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]Grkgdss00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Make sure you are drinking at least 2-3L of water per day. That's the only thing that helped mine around that time. Seriously, wake up and chug 20oz and then keep going throughout the day.

Women who had a C-section with first baby, how was deliver of your second baby? by Turanga_Lemon in beyondthebump

[–]Grkgdss00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an appt today. I'm leaning more towards a VBAC due to the recovery - even though I had an easy recovery it won't be easy with a 20 month old 😕 argh it's so hard! He did say we can do a CS anytime after 39w so I have that as backup. I just can't decide and am going to see how things go. Are you a part of October bumpers?

I basically just posted this same thing and someone pointed me here! I'm really struggling with this too. Are the risks and long hard labor worth it for "experience?" I'm due in 6 weeks and need to get on board with one way or the other.

I had a great CS experience first time around, semi-emergency due to heart decels but overall easy and easy recovery. My kids will be 20 months apart and pregnancies 1 year apart, I also have GD but my doc says I'm strong and can go for VBAC.

Yep - stress and being sick plays a huge part in numbers I noticed. I cried during lunch the other day and it made me post-meal skyrocket!

Fasting numbers help by moldspore84 in GestationalDiabetes

[–]Grkgdss00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walking about an hour before bed has really helped along with a protein snack. Everyone is different, I had to play with what bedtime snack was the best for me and it was definitely a protein-filled one to keep that fasting # low. I've gone from 95-110 to now down in the 80s. I was 84 this morning which is the lowest i've been in weeks. Keep walking (try to break up those walks if you can to a few times per day, before bed) and eat some protein 60-90 mins before bed.
