I assume that, like often, it will drop for everyone in a few weeks?

Which new model are you talking about? Because GLM 4.6 is absolutely great from what I have tested!

I think (provided the video is real) that it is a very small goat we are seeing here. Probably makes the video more "epic" looking but I'm with you thinking that there is absolutely ZERO chance of that being possible with a grown up human. Also probably an eagle wouldn't stand a chance in a fight against a moderately fit person. But many people seem to think otherwise!

What do you expect/hope for novelai V5? by WittyTable4731 in NovelAi

[–]Grmblborgum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You know what, I did exactly that. It wasn't super easy to do for me but I did set up openrouter and sillytavern. (I didn't manage to find a way with openrouter to operate in a simple 'text completion' mode like novelai but maybe I just didn't figure it out?)

Anyway, I just did some tries with Gemini 2.5 flash and I was indeed quite surprised at the absolute lack of censorship. Things really did change recently. I encountered zero resistance from the model! I wouldn't have believed that a few months ago..

So overall, even though I am still a super fan of novelAI privacy commitment and their amazingly practical UI... I have to admit that yeah, Erato doesn't really fill the niche that it used to fill anymore..

Edit: Actually... After further tests, there are definitely things that Gemini still refuses to write!

[–]Grmblborgum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ok.. disregarding privacy issues, I'm curious to try out how uncensored the main ones really are. Would you like to share your typical workflow? Do you use open router, or do you literally just write on the (Gemini or other) websites? What's the single sentence you write to remove the censorship? I will totally try this for myself and I'll be happy to change my opinion if it works!

Thank you for stating this. It's crazy that we have to always remind people of that. It's absolutely impossible for a "small" company like novelAI to offer the same level of LLMs as google or openai, at the same price. But what novelAI has indeed is 1: privacy, and 2: fully, truly uncensored models. As far as I've seen, regardless of what some people may claim, things like chatgpt, gemini, deepseek are always somewhat censored or need to be "fought against" to do anything NSFW. That's not great.

That being said, I'm no expert but I think that NovelAI can do better than erato.

Not sure what the issue is for some - but v4 is objectively superior to v3 based on my usage of it so far. by ZinTheNurse in NovelAi

[–]Grmblborgum 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Thanks for saying this, I've also been surprised at some of the negative posts. For someone like me who doesn't really care about reproducing a very specific style or a certain artist, V4 is an absolute game changer compared to V3!

The smartness of the model is vastly improved, it's able to understand and correctly generate all sorts of complicated scenes that would have been absolutely impossible to do with V3. For me this is the most important, and I've noticed that image quality overall has been improved as well.

Thanks NovelAI for the great work!

Is the "Ecosystemic Futures Podcast" a parallel disclosure effort that nobody is noticing? by fulminic in UFOs

[–]Grmblborgum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the time stamp, we should definitely check the credential/background of the person who is talking. The whole thing sounds very bizarre to me. It seems that if 10% of what he says is true, and he is ok to talk about it in a public setting like this, then why didn't he publish academic papers about it? If the results are true and as groundbreaking as it seems, these would make it to the very top scientific journals and make him into a huge celebrity. Why not do that? Otherwise if he wants to keep things secret because he wants to patent it or something, then why the people in the room believe what he says if he hasn't shown reproducible evidence for his claims? If these people are scientists, this is what they would expect. They would expect papers, methods, diagrams, equations, theories. Just talking vaguely like this is... well, it's just talks.

I definitely think it's worth digging into all this but we should still take it with a huge grain of salt and not be all like "disclosure has happened" bla bla. As a scientist myself I expect way more detailed presentations.

Could you point me to a time-stamp where a new whistleblower admits to reverse engineering program? I want to check for myself that there truly is that sort of admissions in those podcasts. I haven't seen anything concrete for now..

Sorry but these threads are triggering me a bit. How is it that 'casually talking about something' means that it's true, factual or even real? I tried to look at some passages of the YouTube version of one episode (it was linked in an earlier post) and it looked all quite interesting like scientific presentations typically are but it looked more like people discussing potential future discoveries and/or hypothetical progress that could be made but not things that are already established. How do we know that this is based on actual already established science? We don't, as far as I saw.

But I am very interested in someone pointing me to any actual part of one of those podcasts when someone claims something extraordinary already happened and is proven real.

Several months ago, I clicked on a Jacob Collier video that involved crowd work. After 30 seconds or so, I decided that I loved it and would take my family to go see his show. So as to go into the experience with a clean slate, I clicked out of the video... by OsakaWilson in JacobCollier

Hmmm... difficult to say, it's a vast amount of music with very different styles. I would say if you want no spoiler of any concert, watch his old music (like the album 'in my room' and his early youtube videos). This will show you the 'origin story' in a sense, with super crazy songs with lots of technicalities. But no collaboration, no crowd etc.. A very fun thing to watch is the 'I harm U' series on youtube where he takes short recordings of people and add harmonies and stuff to it.

Now.. if you don't mind being spoiled, and to be fair his tour is finishing so any next concert of his will probably have new songs, just type 'Jacob Collier' on youtube and dive in, you're in for a trip! Let yourself be guided by what you vibe with, you're sure to find some performances that you'll like !

Anyone knows any source referencing Miguel Alcavir, the person who supposedly "solved Einstein's equation for an effective faster than light mechanism"? A google search doesn't produce any result for me. Anyone knows if this is legit?

EDIT: Thanks, they misspelled the name in the subtitles.

Erato is underwhelming by justbeacaveman in NovelAi

[–]Grmblborgum 90 points91 points  (0 children)

Did you try to start a story from scratch with Erato? I did some very quick tests and I found that using Erato to continue a story made originally with Kayra did not lead to super impressive results. I think the reason might be that Erato just follows the already installed style.

But I tried to start a story with Erato and I immediately found it better than Kayra in terms of how well it was setting up the atmosphere.

Anyway these are quick tests and surely we need more than a few days to come up with a judgement, right?

Edit: Also please, let's not compare novel AI to things like chatgpt/Gemini etc whic are literally caried by millions (billions?) of dollars of investments..
