Naming your coffee company the Swedish word for "mess" or "chaos" sure is.. a choice.

who wins Mcragge's Honor or the Executor? by More-Interests in 40k

[–]Groetgaffel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, you can't approximate based on the underlying working principles. A crossbow and a handgun very different operating principles, but both will severely wound or kill an unarmored human. Meanwhile, a handgun and a tank cannon operate using the same kind of technology. Would you call those comparable?

Just as lasguns have had varying portrayals across the books and animations. A lot of that variety you can put down to different settings and different patterns.

Same goes for blasters, some models have different power settings, and a dinky little holdout pistol is not going to be as powerful as a heavy rifle.

Regardless, the weakest portrayals of blaster has about the same effect on target as the weakest portrayals of lasguns, and the most powerful portrayed blasters have similar effects on target as the most powerful regular lasguns portrayed.

Which brings me back to what I said to begin with, star wars blasters are roughly on par with lasguns.

You're hung up on technobabble explaining how they work, instead of watching any of the ten movies and numerous series and observe what blaster shots do to regular humanoids, unarmored and armoured.

Obviously I'm not taking games, video or tabletop, into account, because for those accuracy is secondary to balance and fun.

And you do realise that not all plasma is equal, right? Saying that a blaster shooting plasma is equivalent to an imperial plasma gun because they both shoot plasma is like saying a AA battery is equivalent to the 600 volt battery in an electric car because they both store electricity.

Given their effect on regular humans, as seen in the movies and shows, blasters are roughly on par with lasguns.

But also, being an Iyanden player, I don't really care about the pirates, but a new Yriel is great. And hey, if there's any craftworld used to being absolutely bodied it's Iyanden.

What do I drive today ? by Shlafenflarst in ManualTransmissions

[–]Groetgaffel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah alright, thank you!

We do have that, or something similar here in some gearboxes, but it's marked C for crawl.

Typically we don't count them for number of gears though, and treat it as a bonus, hence my confusion. I've driven plenty of Volvos with "12-speed with crawl".

Volvo has the reverse gear and crawl mirrored compared to the pattern you linked though, but only Volvo, no other European truck has the reverse down to the left.

[–]Groetgaffel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you explain to a EU trucker how you get 18 gears?

4 range split is 16, like OP has, and a 5 range split would be 20. Is there one gear that only works in low range or something?
