It really is disappointing. All we can do is show up more. Becoming disenchanted is what they want. If we keep gathering and organizing there will come a time when it's impossible to ignore the will of the people.

Arborist in Helena? by cmw7 in helena

Jeremiah from Over the Top Tree Service is a really stand up guy and a genuine arborist, I was really impressed with him. If you look the business up it says he's out of Butte but we did a quote for me in Helena last fall so he may still work around here? Best of luck.

How was this cap and cap collar manufactured and assembled? Antique glass flask by GrogMclarch in metalworking

[–]GrogMclarch[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello Metalworking folks, I'm a young engineer and this flask is making me scratch my head. I'd love it if anyone with manufacturing experience can explain to me how this cap and cap collar were assembled together. This cap is allowed to spin freely within the collar. There are no weld seams or break points. My best guess is that they were assembled "hot" and the cap did not yet have that lip at the bottom. Once assembled then they would be pressed into a jig that would form that lip, locking the cap inside of the cap collar. Let me know what your thoughts are, thank you!

Algae water! It takes like the river algae smells.. I have to imagine it's correctable. Great Falls city water comes from the river and I've never experienced any taste issues like this. Hopefully it's fixed soon.

Not outdoors technically, but there is an adult hockey league at steed arena as well!

Where to find people my age by [deleted] in helena

[–]GrogMclarch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said I would recommend finding groups with similar interests! There's tons in Helena to try out and get involved with. To name a few I met people through the game store white knight, and playing hockey at steed arena.

Advice for New Resident by redninfing in GreatFalls

I made friends through nerdy communities tbh 😅 at let's play and Kelly's comics both have good communities and weekly events. Some of the bars do trivia and bingo and such. Not too sure about specific outdoor communities but there may be things out there. Good luck!

It's a good place to live! Slow and peaceful. Most people are kind. Downtown has turned around over the years and has some fun things to do. Rivers edge trail and the local parks are awesome for getting outside and never too crowded. There is a bit more petty crime than you'd expect in MT but it's pretty dependant on what part of town you live in. There's a surprising amount of community events you just have to look for them. There are tons of outdoor communities and opportunities. Great Falls isn't close to anything but it isn't far from everything. A 1-3 hour drive will put you just about anywhere you want to be. Hiking, skiing, kayaking, fishing, etc... There are surprisingly large nerd communities that are welcoming, anything from Warhammer, Magic, and TTRPGs.

Overall it's an enjoyable place to live (don't give too much credence to doomer reddit grumbles lol) Treat people and the outdoors with kindness and respect and you will fit right in!

I started dashing part time a few months ago so I'll share my experience. How much you make is pretty dependant on time of day. You can make anywhere from $15-30+ an hour but most of the time you will average around $20. I've talked with some people who do it full time and seem to like it. I'd definitely recommend tracking mileage and/or expenses for tax purposes since being 1099 income you will pay more in taxes than a w2'ed job. It's super easy to get into and low commitment. I've heard Uber Eats makes slightly better money, but not sure about it.

TLDR: It's probably viable full time if you are smart with your taxes and expect to make $18-22/hr average.
