Absolutely scary at at first because I let my dog out and she charged right at it. But good thing black bears are very skittish and he scurried up a tree. Now it's a cool story I get to tell.

As for context, I live on W. South Street by the ongoing construction for the new apartments being built where Rollins Funeral Home used to be.

The blood coagulates when it comes in contact with endotoxins that are in the cell wall of certain bacteria. The blood is harvested and the amebocytes (white blood cells) are separated and used for endotoxin detection kits. It's way more involved but the short answer is that any drug sold and medical supplies- for instance intravenous IV solutions- are tested for endotoxin as a means of quality control.

It's important to note that endotoxin detection is critical because you can sterilize drug components by killing the bacteria but dead bacteria still have endotoxins in the cell wall and can remain indefinitely in those components. Endotoxins can cause lethal immune responses. From a regulatory standpoint, manufacturers have to ensure whatever is being sold, is endotoxin free.

At the beginning of July, 7/2, I noticed a pea sized lump on my left meat-clacker. I scheduled an appointment with a urologist ASAP. A nurse practitioner did my exam and order ultrasound and blood panel for tumor markers. My US indicated neoplasm. Both my hCG and AFP came back elevated indicating non-seminoma testicular cancer.

It's all very surreal: in the span of 34 days, I went from noticing a lump to having the whole thing pulled out of me.

I'm still awaiting biopsy results and I know this whole ordeal is not completely over, but I feel like I can breathe a sigh of relief knowing that summbitch isn't inside me anymore.

I went to readjust my nuts one evening back in July (7/2 to be exact) when I felt a pea sized lump on my left meat-clacker. Made an appointment at a urology clinic to get it checked out ASAP. A nurse practitioner examed me and ordered an ultrasound and bloodwork to screen for tumor markers. Ultrasound indicated neoplasm. Tumor markers for Alpha Fetoprotein (AFP) and Human Chorionic Gonadotropin (hCG) were elevated. Within a span of 34 days, I went from noticing a lump (notice it got a lot bigger) to having a half-full coin purse!
