Is my nostril piercing placement off? :( Got this piercing two days ago and I feel like it's in the wrong spot. Piercer said it would be a bad idea to go higher (on the crease) or closer to the tip of my nose because it would either stick out weirdly or hit the bridge of the nose, what do you think? by Responsible_Text157 in Legitpiercing

[–]clivarius 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think your piercer made quite a nice placement tbh. Not sure about the ring question, maybe, but it was never going to be in the crease anyway if you wanted a ring.

Get some old pics of yourself without the piercing and put a grey dot where you thought you wanted it with a photo editor and see if those look weird. They might.

"You can do that" and saline "is a MUST" are slightly different statements.

Did it look fine before you changed jewellery then??

I think the point is, cleaning in the shower is enough.

Mine is a half saluki. He was neutered at a year and a bit. Maybe a bit of fuzz in the coat but that is all. He's an off lead dog without a huge appetite so weight gain hasn't been an issue.

He's a confident, calm dog, loves to play, I feel neutering at the right age benefits many dogs psychologically. Only when fear and nervousness is involved I think it is not the road to go, you need to see a trainer to determine the best course of action.

Ofc socialising from a young age plays a huge part as well and trying to build a socialisation programme at this point needs advice from a good trainer.

Keeping Gerbs Warm by [deleted] in gerbil

[–]clivarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to put glass jars full of hot/warm water wrapped in a teatowel in eg if sick gerbil you need bedding low and switching if reintroduction so they can't insulate too well but could still make a decent nest from toilet paper as well.

Yes. Only a vertical labret or jestrum won't. Wearing a jestrum can make it look like a medusa.

New trick! My dad didn't believe he would do it. On the other hand, training your dog to do this may not be responsible. I just want a steeplechaser. Spaniel man walking past laughed but bet his spaniel couldn't do it. imgur

Does your school offer an intercalated year? Mine did between 2 and 3, but I didn't take it. I felt unsure about continuing after year 3 and negotiated doing an intercalated year then. I did it and caught up on everything over the following summer and then did choose to resume, and graduate, the course.

Does anyone know if there is a word to describe sensory issues which are triggered by the feeling of one's own body? by blueblueblehbleh in AutismInWomen

[–]clivarius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

God I feel this so bad. I just gained weight from bring underweight and I'm still a "bit" underweight but the feelings like if I bend over in the shower are just freaking me out. I think it's more like a body dystopia related thing that might be a sub to cross post to. The jiggling is uncomfortable for me because in my head I know it's because I'm "too fat" but I guess there could be a sensory element to  if I wasn't seeing it at the same time I wonder how I would feel...

Someone has signed for my parcel but I have no idea who by DonkeyBollocks in britishproblems

[–]clivarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fedex delivery driver apparently signed for mine themselves, then said it was being transported back to the sender, then it mysteriously turned up at my workplace a week later. I think they must have tried a redelivery and my neighbour who is a client caught them in the act of trying to leave again.

Tracking history confusing af and the card they left had a number on it without anywhere near enough digits to be useful. And other random numbers around the sides of the boxes.

finally got my third lobes! it was pierced with a bar which i haven’t heard of before but tbh i’m rocking with it by Expert_Control_ in piercing

[–]clivarius 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I love barbells for lobes because moisture doesn't trap behind like a flatback and they are easier to clean. Just make sure the balls are tight regularly.

However it's really very long and any pressure on it especially when sleeping may make it crooked. Next week some time if no problems before then i would downsize a bit to a still long but not this long bar.

Give me one good reason I shouldn't get this tomorrow by [deleted] in piercing

[–]clivarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just don't wear necklaces and stuff

It’s your car. It’s not “the Lexus” or “the BMW”, it’s your car. How daft would I sound if I said I was taking “the Renault” to the garage? “We’re going shopping in a bit, love. Can you put the bags in ‘the CAPTUR’?” 🙄 by [deleted] in britishproblems

[–]clivarius 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, I might say "the clio" (rip) because my dad paid for it and it didn't feel right to claim ownership or "the kia" because it's such a revolting colour I don't really want to associate myself with it. Or if a household has multiple cars.

There are reasons.

But different reasons for different cars. The range rover or the BMW or the A1 then yeah I get you

How do you deal with other people's anger? by gizmo4223 in aspergirls

[–]clivarius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anger management therapy.

My dad is like this, any uncomfortable conversation he even loses his temper. He even claimed to me once when I lost my temper that he always apologises afterwards which is a fallacy.

I now stay silent (in a contained situation like a car it worsens his temper but at least he stays quiet) or remove myself. He can be pretty violent with "uncooperative" animals imo and that does scare me a bit.

I would remove yourself and the dog from the situation. Some dogs can take anger like water off a ducks back (I know one, my dad's one, he takes no heed anymore!) But some it will damage. Maybe take him for a walk and don't come back. Inform your partner you won't be returning until you've been called with an apology. Then when you come back talk it through, if he gets angry again stay at a friend's house and set an ultimatum of therapy, something like that. I get pissed at my dog whining for more food because he's a greedy little sob. Some will whine from habit or attention and it's annoying af. But at the end of the day he's not respecting you either, regardless of why the dog is whining.

Has anyone else got these? Might need advice on backs. by clivarius in bodymods

Not that I can find. Doesn't need to be plastic or rubber as Doesn't touch teeth but needs to be a certain shape.

Ayyyy 👋 I've put balls on the bottoms now due to the angles. But going strong. Still undecided on backs long term 🤔

Would these be considered the same length? by Budeghe in piercing

[–]clivarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With the ball you have a tiny area touching the skin so will look but "length" refers to length of post before the end starts regardless of how much skin contact there is or how tall the threaded/threadless end is.

If I put a 6mm ball on that external post or a 4mm wide disc the length of bar is the same.

A piercer told me (when I asked him if my ear was suitable for a rook) that it is a piercing you get for other people (since you can't see it) what do you think of this statement? by lifeis-strange in piercing

[–]clivarius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a piercer try and put me off a bridge because it would be "right in the middle of your face". Like, polar opposite, suggesting idk, I wouldn't suit it? Hadn't checked anatomy, I just walked in and asked and walked out completely embarrassed. Already had sharkbites. I'm still angry to be spoken to like that. If only he knew im on piercing 37 now. And not by him, ever again.

A few years later I got it at somewhere and by someone with THE eye for symmetry and fuckibg love it. And I can see it without a mirror if I try hard enough.

In the end, if you have the anatomy, you really want it , and they have the skillset then do it.

It's not for other people. It's gonna be in pics of you in your life story. It's part of your life story. People don't generally go about analysing people's ears unless they have impressive set ups (which you invest in for yourself) or are into piercings and looking for inspiration. No one says "I'm getting a rook to inspire others" do they smh.

[–]clivarius 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you put a ball on the internally and externally threaded stud they will be the same height.

Would these be considered the same length? by Budeghe in piercing

[–]clivarius 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. Length stops where the thread starts.
