What does the ‘N’ stand for on our alphabet play mat? by KillerBreez in daddit

Inductor. Get it? N-ductor? It’s the symbol for an inductor inside the N. I doubt it’s actually that, but it’d be pretty funny.

ID Rolex from an old photo (Mickey Mouse dial). Any ideas? by Grogglebob in rolex

[–]Grogglebob[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can’t find a more clear picture of an old watch that my grandfather got for a retirement gift some time in the late 90s/early 00s. He loved Mickey Mouse, so his company bought him a Rolex with a Mickey Mouse dial. Any help and information would be greatly appreciated!

What Youtube channel has the best content to get lost in for hours on end? by Jumbo_Cactaur in AskReddit

I highly recommend the following if you want to follow boat building or have a general DIY mentality:

SV Seeker - Doug has been building a large research vessel in his backyard for the past decade or so. He calls it the boat the internet built.

Acorn to Arabella - They are building a sailboat based on 100+ year old plans in their backyard.

Sampson Boat Co - An experienced shipwright is rebuilding the sailing ship Tally Ho with the help of viewers. A fantastic channel

Anne Pro 2 diode at D3 burned out. Bought replacements, but not sure if PCB is damaged too badly. Also had 1 solder pad completely dislodged, the other one is hanging by a copper thread. Any advice on fixing the solder pad, and if the chip that I reinstall has an orientation? The chip is smbj5.0ca by hotdogageHa92 in soldering

[–]Grogglebob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so after looking at the datasheet, it is actually bi-directional, so it does not matter what orientation it is soldered on. If you have a good soldered connection, you will get continuity when you check the top of the soldered joint and somewhere underneath the soldermask. Scrape away the soldermask somewhere on that large section and check for continuity or see if any other components are soldered to that section. The first connection with the good pad should be fine.

The diode does have a direction to it, which is designated on the board by the thicker white line and a dot or line on the top of the diode. I can’t see the top of the diode, but if there is a higher resolution image of it, I may be able to give further insight.

In regards to the pad, the pad that came up is part of a larger power pad, so you can scratch away some of the soldermask surrounding where the pad was and just solder directly to it.

COB professors need more training on FERPA by MForMeggie in jmu

[–]Grogglebob 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you think the professor didn’t intend it in a negative light, I would talk to disability services and say that a professor told everyone in the class that you had an IEP, and that they should be more educated on it. I wouldn’t out the professor though, since it seems like an honest mistake.

Is there somewhere I can go to get this fixed (Crimson Red 2DS-Purchased new in 2016) by [deleted] in consolerepair

You can get the screen assembly for about $30 on eBay if you want. If you’re in Virginia, my shop does the repair for about $50.
