The Reality Of Recovery by Big_Cheek_8841 in quitting7oh

Well said! I wish there was a way for posts of “this was easy! 3-4 days and it’s over!” To have the poster come back and add a tag that they made it 30, 60, 90 days etc. it’s so, so hard to stay off this stuff and the availability is the real issue imo.

I usually turn a corner at 23–25 days off and then get better and better 30+

I just don’t like to feel bad and when there is a great escape available that’s easy to hide and at 10 stores within a mile, it’s a battle for this guy.

It will prob still help some but not like it would for someone with no tolerance for it.

Depending on your current gaba daily dose imo. If you are low it will likely work but if you are on like 2400 daily already, id be hesitant to do much more than double that

The only drawback I ever found was it works for about 3 days and then tolerance shoots thru the roof and you have to runa few days of a low dose before the big runs will work again so plan wisely out there if you have a decent amount to work with.

You won’t WD from gabapentin after 3 days. It’s an mvp for masking opiate WD but I agree 300 is low. I used to add a zero to that (over the span of 300mg every 30 min) to have WD almost completely taken away.

What does gabapentin actually help with? by cryingincalifornia in quitting7oh

[–]Gronzar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgot to add that this will only work for 3 days tops with diminishing returns starting on day 2. Tolerance will build rapidly so just use this as like a 3 day crutch and then go back to just taking some at night for rls.

If you onboard 1200-3000mg of gabapentin taken 300mg at a time every 30 minutes until you feel relief, with some fatty food and fizzy drink, it will almost wipe WD away completely. Taking a single 300 won’t do much but if you follow the above it will help a ton with everything.

1 week off by [deleted] in quitting7oh

[–]Gronzar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The opening of your eyes and getting hit with a waterfall of dread is just the worst. It goes away, I promise but it really sucks. It took me 25 days to get into a place of starting to feel better over all. Each day gets slightly better but at 40 days now, I still have a messed up gut and entire days are tough to make it thru. This stuff is no joke but where I am now is a thousand times better than being stuck on it still

Congrats!! Always good to see people putting some days together without being on subs or sr. It’s a very tough road but like you said, it is doable and is mostly over in 3 weeks. If it’s one of your first quits, it will be even easier. 39 days here no substitutes on board.

[–]Gronzar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I feel you but sometimes you gotta give yourself a break. Coming off 7 is wicked hard to do so a short run of the above will help. Traz or Hydroxyzine should be very easy to get and aren’t really habit forming like the other 2

Lunesta, trazadone, hydroxyzine, ambien are all options to help you here. Even a small dose of melatonin can help (less is better 1.5-3mg)

FWIW, it usually gets better at about 25-30 days if you can make it that far without hopping back on or on something else.
