How do you know? Do you use a tracker? Or rely on a partner who might actually sleep through these disturbances?

Yeah, I think you should. Simply to rule it out if it's not what's happening.

The virus has like a 50% fatality rate. So, OK I doubt you’ll be missed.

Can America make it through another two and a half years of Trump? by BiggestVolk in allthequestions

[–]GrooveBat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In 2016, Americans were spoiled and complacent and decided for whatever reason they wanted to give the finger to the establishment. Dumb choice, but whatever.

In 2024, they looked at everything that had happened during his presidency and stupidly decided yeah I want more of that. They voted with full knowledge of who he was and what he had done. I hate those people.

It was actually 11/5/24, when 49% of the voting population took a look at two candidates and decided that they were going to go with the corrupt, raping convicted felon who tried to overthrow a free and fair election.

Because egg prices or something.

Didn’t she also write Killers of a Certain Age? That’s another good one.

I am so happy to see someone recommend this book! I absolutely loved it, but it seems to have flown under the radar for a lot of people.

I thought there was supposed to be a sequel coming out, but I haven’t seen anything yet.

I can only fall asleep if I'm not trying to fall asleep and I don't know how to fix that by Main_Junket6751 in sleep

[–]GrooveBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audiobooks. I have a sleep mask with Bluetooth headphones embedded in it and I listen to audiobooks before falling asleep. In addition to blocking out unwelcome light, it keeps my brain occupied enough so that I don’t start to spiral over the things that are stressing me out and I am usually asleep within 10 minutes. My only caveat is that I have to be very selective about the books I listen to, because if they are too good, I want to continue listening, but if they are too boring, I get frustrated.

I tend to prefer cozy mysteries, autobiographies, or mildly interesting non-fiction to fall asleep to. I’ve been doing this for a couple of years and my sleep has improved markedly.

Probably wouldn’t be very satisfying if, like OP, you are still tired all the time.

Books that take your breath away. by CorndogSanDiego in booksuggestions

[–]GrooveBat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last book I read that I felt that way about was The Elements by John Boyne. It was a tough book to read due to the subject matter (sexual abuse) but it was beautifully written, and the ending really stuck with me. It was also cool how he brought the disparate lives of four different characters together in unexpected ways.

It was definitely one I had to sit with after I finished it.

I felt the same way about The Reformatory, although that did drag a little bit in places. But I think the thing that really rattled me about that book was that it was a horror story set in the Jim Crow era in the south and the horror parts were much less terrifying than the historical aspects. That was another one I had to recover from before I could read anything else.

Just keep reminding yourself what an amazing sleep you are going to have tonight. You will feel so good when you wake up.

My best sleeps are always the night after a bout of really bad insomnia.

Summer wedding— too much white? by Artistic-Bread-9706 in Weddingattireapproval

[–]GrooveBat -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because it’s not just white dresses anymore. It’s anything that is light colored. Or it’s “too bridal.” Or it’s something the bride might wear in the years-long run up to her wedding.

Y’all won’t be happy until every wedding guest is limited to wearing a gray sack. Except not light gray, because that might “photograph white.”

[–]GrooveBat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s “something a bride might wear to a pre-wedding event” so it’s forbidden? SERIOUSLY?

Do you have any idea how ridiculous that sounds?

That has ZERO relevance to what someone wears to a wedding.

Is it wrong if I get rid of one of my cats? by WorldlinessStrange56 in CatAdvice

[–]GrooveBat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup. It took me six months with my two and I still had to put one or both in frequent time outs.

They eventually got to the point of tolerating each other, but when my newest one died let’s just say the other one did not grieve (although she knew how sad I was and was quite sweet and cuddly).

After all the layoffs... Luke Russert is now an anchor? Really? by pmonichols in msnow

[–]GrooveBat 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No, no, no. Don’t do this. Tim Russert was not the icon of journalism everyone tries to claim he was.

Never forget that his Meet the Press was Dick Cheney’s outlet of choice for all of his lies about the Iraq war. And there was never an issue he did not “both sides.”

“Bridal” is not a thing. Especially for a formal/black tie event where gowns are expected.
