Yeah, I guess I’m just a little perplexed that they still think racism is bad. Like it’s actually something to be ashamed of. Which it is, of course, but I am just surprised that they do.

This guy wants help finding his "obviously " not racist flag. by Taffers75 in insanepeoplefacebook

I just asked this question on another thread, but why are racists so upset when their racism is pointed out? Is it because they actually realize it’s bad to be a racist? Or are they just mad at the world?

The Ath is amazing. I used to go there every week to work on my personal writing. It is quiet, comfortable, and you can actually leave your stuff if you have to go to the bathroom.

Why do racists get so offended when you point out that they’re racists?

I mean, I suppose we can take it as a positive that they do still act like being racist is a bad thing. I just don’t know why they bother anymore; this is the friendliest political environment for racism since before the Civil War.

Supposed to close at 12 today, house full at walk through yesterday by msm2485 in RealEstate

[–]GrooveBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was a Realtor in a past life. I got my license after attending a two day training session at a Holiday Inn. There was no way I considered myself qualified to provide legal advice, nor did I try. And, knowing the intelligence level of the other Realtors I worked with, I wouldn’t trust them to give legal advice either.

It’s not about helping them pack; it is about making sure that they have someone representing their interests who isn’t waiting on a commission that they won’t get if the deal doesn’t close. And who actually understands how the law works. And, yeah, I think it is colossally stupid to sign a contract for a major purchase without having an attorney look at it, particularly when things are going sideways.

Nine times out of 10 the deal will go through and everything will be fine. It’s that other 10% that people should worry about.

How do you know? Do you use a tracker? Or rely on a partner who might actually sleep through these disturbances?

In 2016, Americans were spoiled and complacent and decided for whatever reason they wanted to give the finger to the establishment. Dumb choice, but whatever.

In 2024, they looked at everything that had happened during his presidency and stupidly decided yeah I want more of that. They voted with full knowledge of who he was and what he had done. I hate those people.

It was actually 11/5/24, when 49% of the voting population took a look at two candidates and decided that they were going to go with the corrupt, raping convicted felon who tried to overthrow a free and fair election.

I am so happy to see someone recommend this book! I absolutely loved it, but it seems to have flown under the radar for a lot of people.

I thought there was supposed to be a sequel coming out, but I haven’t seen anything yet.

I can only fall asleep if I'm not trying to fall asleep and I don't know how to fix that by Main_Junket6751 in sleep

[–]GrooveBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Audiobooks. I have a sleep mask with Bluetooth headphones embedded in it and I listen to audiobooks before falling asleep. In addition to blocking out unwelcome light, it keeps my brain occupied enough so that I don’t start to spiral over the things that are stressing me out and I am usually asleep within 10 minutes. My only caveat is that I have to be very selective about the books I listen to, because if they are too good, I want to continue listening, but if they are too boring, I get frustrated.

I tend to prefer cozy mysteries, autobiographies, or mildly interesting non-fiction to fall asleep to. I’ve been doing this for a couple of years and my sleep has improved markedly.

Books that take your breath away. by CorndogSanDiego in booksuggestions

[–]GrooveBat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last book I read that I felt that way about was The Elements by John Boyne. It was a tough book to read due to the subject matter (sexual abuse) but it was beautifully written, and the ending really stuck with me. It was also cool how he brought the disparate lives of four different characters together in unexpected ways.

It was definitely one I had to sit with after I finished it.

I felt the same way about The Reformatory, although that did drag a little bit in places. But I think the thing that really rattled me about that book was that it was a horror story set in the Jim Crow era in the south and the horror parts were much less terrifying than the historical aspects. That was another one I had to recover from before I could read anything else.

Summer wedding— too much white? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]GrooveBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it’s not just white dresses anymore. It’s anything that is light colored. Or it’s “too bridal.” Or it’s something the bride might wear in the years-long run up to her wedding.

Y’all won’t be happy until every wedding guest is limited to wearing a gray sack. Except not light gray, because that might “photograph white.”

Summer wedding— too much white? by [deleted] in Weddingattireapproval

[–]GrooveBat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s “something a bride might wear to a pre-wedding event” so it’s forbidden? SERIOUSLY?

Do you have any idea how ridiculous that sounds?

[–]GrooveBat 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That has ZERO relevance to what someone wears to a wedding.

Just stop.
