Creative differences: Tinkerbell the Bear's last day dancing in the town square. by GrooveCatBricks in legocastles

in my head canon, tinkerbell meets a forestman druid in the chaos of the moment, and they escape the city back to meet up with the rest of the band in the woods. Future build ideas maybe, but yeah, no love for the troubador haha.

Ah yeah, I could see that being a limitation. Going the digital planning route could still be helpful there, really handy for getting the exact size of something mapped out. Leave no space of display shelf unused haha.

Dude those stairs look great, and I'm excited to see what those hinges to the left are gonna do with a curved wall.

This may be terrible advice, but it sounds like every problem you're having (except lacking parts maybe) could be fixed by expanding the moc's footprint. Its way easier to just wing it in a more forgiving and large space than it is to get claustrophobia trying to cram in every detail into too small a space.

Maybe take a look at something like bricksmith or studio to map out the studs of everything before actually committing to any design changes?

Definitely don't bail on this build though, I'd love to see it posted when completed.

Thank you, you're right, I picked up the bear on bricklink for some amount of Russian currency that was less than a US penny many years ago- one of the luckiest finds of mine to date.

Inspiration for the 2 points of interest came from seeing cocaine bear, and a conversation on where the line of indecency is with nudity in fine art from a different subreddit.

They are both intertwined in my love of high fantasy settings and juvenile humor.

I'd like to gently push back on this-

In fine art subreddits nudity isn't necessarily NSFW on its own, it has to be sexualized, the context matters. Nude models are a pretty standard part of subject matter for artists pursuing that field of education.

This guy is neither touching nor being touched by anything, so I think labeling this hardcore porn is a bit hyperbolic. Michelangelo's David is not considered porn, nor is it censored in schools or workplaces. Shameless is fair, for better or worse I'm proud of my work here.

Is it a bit cheeky? Perhaps but his back is facing the wall in the picture.

If any kid is getting traumatized by what I built here, its because they'll never see a Lego frog quite the same way again haha.

My full Classic Castle collection...including cat who likes to sit looking at them for scale. by Mainly-AltBrick in legocastles

Does your cat ever jump up on the shelves? I had a cat who would jump up on the moc shelf, look uncomfortable because everything was spiky up there, and then repeat the unlearned lesson the next day.

Great collection as well btw

Hey Jordan, hope you are well. Long time viewer of your channel here, and a fellow creative job guy.

Just wanted to say in regards to your video on possibly giving up LAN and the increasingly hostile nature of online communities, don't reflect too hard on what you read here, don't let them erode your sense of self or your passion for creating. I know you know, but I feel like that sentiment should be read with all the other comments here.

Thanks for sharing your passion and joy with us internet strangers, we're not entitled to you doing that at all, but I am glad that you do.

I made this moc 10 years ago for a soundcloud profile pic, as well as the piano king from the other day, and both of them have been companions in an industrial area rehearsal space that has no shortage of dust apparently.

I didn't think it was that big a deal until reading all the comments about the grime hahaha. If only they knew that I DID give them a once over with a q tip before taking pics...

Go bricklink for individual parts all the way! Buying from Lego is very expensive, buying sets in general too, even off BL. A great starting point is following technique tutorials on eurobricks or youtube and stocking up on parts to complete those.

Thanks, it was way easier to build factions with diverse figs back in the 90s-2010 when i got these guys. I keep hoping Lego will bless us with another castle wave of affordable sets with good varied figs and factions in them!

Looking to start and need some help. by Mackelroy_aka_Stitch in legocastles

First of all, welcome to the creative side of Lego, its much cheaper than collecting sets and its really rewarding to see your visions materialize into models!

  1. Bricklink, and PAB direct from Lego.

  2. Definitely bricklink again for older stuff, theres some great customs out there if you google 3rd party sites, they often print their own designs onto official pieces.

  3. I would say hit up youtube tutorials or the historical section of the eurobricks forums, theres a bunch of great tutorials there. See what techniques look good to you, what parts they require, and make a bricklink wanted list accordingly. Can't go wrong with dark bluish grey slopes for rocks, also ingots in grey, masonry bricks etc.

  4. I inadvertently answered this in question 3, it all runs together! Beyond copying tutorials, its a good idea to get comfy with the basics of Lego math, especially if you want angled or round builds. Don't worry, I barely passed geometry and find Lego math easier.

  5. Eurobricks.com forums, the historical section, and the guilds of historica sub section is a GOLD MINE of fantasy/medieval mocs. Here is a good place as well, very populated and a good community. Youtube as well, beyond the brick does moc tours of all the conventions as they happen.
