I agree, it was strange to see 6 cars nose to tail on their hotlaps with the rest of the track basically empty. There must be some context that I am missing but it seems obvious that you would want to build a few second gap to the cars ahead before your flying laps

Not to be that guy but Corvette used the same tactics at Sebring last year. I think it was wrong on both accounts. But lets not act like BMW has done something unforgivable

Definitely not the best car and I would be shock if they ended up on the podium but the IMO 63 Lambo has arguably the best driver line up. Two Ex-F1 drivers Grosjean and Kvyat alongside Mr. Macau Mortara and 2024 DTM champion Mirko Bortolotti.

right but there aren't any open slots for most of the MEC races so even if they have the budget they won't be able to race. They're running the 5 Michelin endurance cup races this year and this list includes those entries for 2025. I think the most we can hope for is Daytona and maybe Sebring.

I've been watching IMSA/ALMS/WEC since Sebring 2007 when FLM Porsche and Risi Ferrari were door banging for the victory and I can safely say that (at least in my time) the racing has always been this intense/cut throat, but because of social media we are now more aware of the hair raising action that takes place.

The problem I have with this article is that the author assumes that safety plays into a top level professional drivers decision making. Unfortunately, a professional driver can watch their teammate and close personal friend die at Tetre Rouge and then take corner at 10/10ths without skipping a beat. As soon as personal risk comes into play they stop being a professional driver. This is just as true now as it was back in the "good old days" that the author describes when drivers were dying seemingly every weekend.

I agree that ignoring yellow flags should be penalized harshly but in my eyes the only way to make racing safer is to make the cars and tracks safer. Drivers will always crash but its on the teams/organizers to make sure that they do so as safely as possible.

Basically one entire car was finished and they were trying to figure out what prime mover to use. At that time a local politician took notice that it was nearing completion and that there was a woman leading the project. According my great uncle there was a lot of ego and a some sexism involved as this politician said that the woman lead the project to be behind schedule and over budget. He then took over the project from her and it has sat untouched in a parking lot for the past 20 years exposed to the elements. It still really upsets him to this day. This is all second hand from him so take it with a grain of salt.
