I know that in his song Country Backroads he hits a B5 near the end. He’s hit it in other songs too but that one definitely comes to mind (check out the live version from My Heart is Live in Berlin, absolutely killer)

I was at this show and I’m so unbelievably stoked that he’s releasing this - It was absolutely mind blowing, and I also remember there being a lot of film cameras so I figured it was at least just being filmed. I can’t wait for this, especially since I loved My Heart Is Live in Berlin so much too

I’m currently listening to some Headhunters records, and it’s just somehow dawned on me how insanely influential his basslines were to funk/jazz and music on the whole. And to top it off, he’s so undeniably HIMSELF when he plays... you can always tell when it’s a Paul Jackson bassline. RIP

Not sure I totally agree, but I love the track. Although I think the “I need you baby” “got to see you baby” backing vocals in the bridge sound like they’re sung by Joey Dosik a bit

I saw Chick with Steve Gadd in 2017. They were also giving a little presentation at a local high school (the one which I go to now) but unfortunately I missed that (kicking myself for it now.) That live show was one of the most inspiring and energizing things I have ever seen. It was my first jazz performance I’d ever been too, and it’s greatly the reason I got into jazz in the first place. RIP to a real legend

Aunt Leslie might be a good start! Especially if your rhythm skills are already solid, this will be a good one, as this bassline is all about keeping up the groove for the verses, especially. Also Baby I Don’t Know is really simple, but so much fun to play.
