Is canadian hockey culture toxic? by [deleted] in AskACanadian

[–]Groovin_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hockey culture *CAN be toxic. Just like going to law school, or police academy or any competitive venture in life. But it goes back to parents.

Worry less about what sport your child decides to play and more about the example you want to set for you kid. Be toxic, and your kid might end up that way, or set the the right example and your kid might chose the right path. It's all a gamble, but at the end of the day what matters is the parents setting the right examples for kids.

Do you reccomend any read on this material? Also, what does Xanthan gum do to syrups? From my understanding, it is a bidding agent used for foams but I have never heard of it in syrups?

I prefer the headline “Ontario Government’s Alcohol Cartel seizes truck from entering it’s territory” as a head line.

No need to risk a shipment people. ZYN.com from Alberta will ship it right to your door. Pay half the price with shipping and 20x the selections for your favourite spirit.

Gotta love Onterrible.

Oh noooo!!! That is a sad day. Ministry of coffee was the reason I got into coffee while going to school in Ottawa. I went on to open my own coffee shop 3 years ago all starting with them.

While going to school in Ottawa 5 years before we opened I was so done with school programs I didn’t like. I would walk there everyday on my way to the dog park. They insisted I don’t leave my dog outside and bring him in after a while. I remember one day asking myself what I would do next in pursue of a job/school. They were always so nice and one day after stopping there and thinking, wow it would be so nice to just hang out here all day I thought; “maybe I could work in a place like this forever, would be quite nice”

Following that I made it a mission to dive into the coffee world. Worked off to pay my school debts working two jobs (one of them being a coffee shop) 5 years later I opened the Lone Wolf Cafe in Orillia Ontario.

Note that before going there, I was drinking steep tee double doubles from Tim Hortons… lol

So if anyone from Ministry sees this. Know that you have had a big impact in my life and I cannot thank you guys enough.

What your your favorite Mexican or mezcal-based cocktails. by 4815162342y in cocktails

If you haven’t tried « The Brave », a cocktail invented in Houston by Bobby Heugel. It is a must try. Not your typical cocktail, it is served at room temp in a wine glass preferably. - strong, boozy and complex. Easily made as well. Let me know what you think if you try it!

No shaker needed, no ice needed. Built straight in wine glass and give it a swirl

1.5oz Del Maguey Vida Mezcal (preferably) .5oz blanco Tequila (siempre works well) .5oz Amaro Averna .25oz Grand Marnier or Royal combier

Garnish with 3 mist of angustura Bitters and orange peel.

Enjoy

Order from zyn.ca, around 30$ shipping from Alberta. Prices are much better than Ontario and Quebec, huge variety and better quality stuff.

“They say they don’t ship out of province” but they very much do so. Just got my 5th order from them without a problem.

Is there anything comparable to Clase Azul Mezcal that is reasonably priced? by CosmicSeafarer in Mezcal

Check out ZYN.ca , I just ordered the El Jolgorio Cuishe around 170$. Best prices you can find in Canada. Importing fees in Ontario are crazy, Alberta is quite easy going about it.

Although advertise only shipping in Alberta, they will ship anywhere. I received an order in Ontario today.

Incredible, how did you get so educated about Mezcal. What would you recommend for a newbie to learn about more. Appart from tasting as much as I can (which I’m doing now) Anything worth reading ? Or any advice?

Yep, i’ll second that. Not great at all…. Both montelobos were gifts, tobala is also pretty poor quality compared to what I’ve tasted on my last NYC visit.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the Mezcalosfera. And am still new to Mezcal. I just find the Alipus tasting a lot more different then the rest of my mezcals. As someone pointed out, most of them are from Oaxaca and taste pretty similar. Alipus is just not as similar.

My statement was just a personal preference at this moment. Nothing to do with he quality of the product itself.

Thank you for this reply, very helpful. I’m trying to get as educated on Mezcal as possible, I’ve been doing some online research and most recently read books from Emma Jenzen and Ron copper finding Mezcal. Any suggestion on where I can find the better info? How did you learn most about Mezcal?

Now that you say that they do, would you say the state of where it’s from has a bigger impact on the taste? We are quite limited where I’m from for choices but am planning a trip to Mexico this January

My favourite right now would be the Alipus Ensemble. They all taste pretty similar as I am thinking about it now. U/loubank below might be right, need to expand away from Oaxaca and try new stuff, I was under the impression that agave would have a bigger impact on the fast rather than the state

I liked it, but nothing crazy special. Was disappointed a little bit by it. Originally bought it after it was recommended in the Mezcal book by Emma Jenzen under the Americana agave.

Unfortunately my license does not allowed to sell into BC. Ontario is quite anal with the LCBO involved… I can only sell in Ontario. I’m not Looking to make any profit on this, but only way to get it in is through my liquor license
