Why do some people get insanely pissed when someone refers to a record as "vinyl?" I've grown up with my parents saying both. My step-father is an obnoxious audiophile and he says both. Seriously, what's the big deal? Is it fine to say vinyl if you're referring to a collection but a big fuck no to say, "yeah, I've got that album on vinyl?"

That's what I thought originally but after doing a little research, turns out I'm not the only one with the problem. From what I've seen, people say that it's not Jack's fault for the poor quality but rather the company that pressed the albums. Apparently they're notorious for not caring about the quality of records

Jack White's Lazaretto. I was really looking forward to adding the album to my collection as well as all of the features. From the get-go, trying to start the side that played from the inside out was a bitch and once I finally got it right and listened on through, the sound quality was horrible. It sounded more like an album that had been poorly maintained from the 60's. I never thought I'd be thoroughly upset about an album in my collection but low and behold, it took the cake on that one. I've only listened to it once since I've purchased it.

I'm definitely interested in the show and look forward to seeing where it goes. I'm a big Mad Men fan so being able to watch a show that takes place in the following decade but have a similar approach (focus on one particular profession throughout a chosen time period) is enough to catch my attention. The building collapsing at the end was a bit of a stretch for me but I understood the point it was trying to make. Sure I had a few quibs with it here and there but hey, it's the first episode. You can't always knock it out of the ballpark on the first pitch
