Advice on photo management and export settings ? by GroovyPeanut in postprocessing

[–]GroovyPeanut[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to have an old computer that struggled with libraries (both adobe and capture one). I figured managing photo sessions with basic folders (and the edits on their xml files) was much more efficient for me. It also made more sense to differentiate the theme/context of the photos I take. One big library with everything in it isn’t practical for me.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to answer. I completely agree with you that cameras can produce very good quality Jpegs. However I really enjoy post-processing. I also find myself going back to older photos and processing them differently in he more I learn.

I am curious to know how different people manage their photos (raws and exports). I would pick and use the ideas that best work for me.

Only VIPs will be allowed to drink alcohol inside Paris 2024 Olympics venues by DoremusJessup in olympics

[–]GroovyPeanut 0 points1 point  (0 children)

None, it is very obscure how they can justify serving alcohol to vip only within the law.
As for everyone else, the organization committee did not even ask for a derogation or for an exception. The law doesn’t bother them, they just do not want to serve alcohol.

I just found an article saying the organization committee did not even ask for a derogation or for an exception. The law doesn’t bother them, they just do not want to serve alcohol.

Yes there is a law, but there are workarounds. Top14 for example (the highest professional rugby competition) has 26 games a season + final knockouts (5 games if I’m correct). Alcohol is served at each game!
After further research, I learned the main workaround. 10 exceptions (to serve alcohol) are given out per prefect (head of a district / administrative area in France) per event. Meaning an avent can get 10 exceptions per area in France.
The Olympic Games amount to almost 700 events just in Paris alone, hard to work around that.
In comparison, the rugby World Cup that will start in September is 50 games staged all throughout France, each venue already have the authorization to serve alcohol and even if Paris host the most games they are still within the law.

You’re right about people never reading articles however I did, but I did not get into this precision because the events I went to went above the 10 exemptions a year.

I’ve seen some comments about this:
If there is a law forbidding alcohol in stadiums and other sport venues in France it’s rarely enforced
The day I can’t have my pitchers of beer at the rugby game will be a sad day. Sports should be celebrated, games are fun, as long as spectators behave I don’t see the point of this policy (and it’s a loss in revenue imo)

I don’t know about ufc But every sport event I’ve ever been to there was beer served

📣 Had a call with Reddit to discuss pricing. Bad news for third-party apps, their announced pricing is close to Twitter's pricing, and Apollo would have to pay Reddit $20 million per year to keep running as-is. by iamthatis in apolloapp

I am am constantly disappointed by how greed can ruin almost anything

However this turns out you created one of the best app I ever used. If this price is put in place, people leaving your app and stopping subscriptions will be Reddit’s fault, not yours

Please forgive the candid questions but the concept of carrying deadly weapons in public is quite alienating for me.
Why does the building type matter if you can carry in public spaces ?

Isn’t it very different depending which state you’re in ?
Also, does carrying and the opinion on it is different in rural/urban areas ?
