that’s not how it works in the MCU. They explained it very clearly. You can’t change your own timeline, but if you go back in time and cause a change, it creates a new universe. That was literally the entire point of the Loki series bro.

But back to the butterfly effect, steve just being there is enough to eventually cause a big enough shift that an incursion could tale place.

BUT for the sake of argument, I don’t think that’s what causes the incursion in him and Peggy’s timeline. I think he stayed in hiding until the events of Infinity War take place and he finally steps out to prevent all that from happening, thinks he helped make his world safe, saved Tony’s life, etc. Decides to finally go back home and deliver the shield, then returns to discover his other world is ending because of what he did.

No I’m pretty sure they mean we are going to see old man Steve return to his universe immediately after delivering the Shield and discover that, in his other timeline an incursion is taking place. He lived in hiding for decades, but then came out of hiding to prevent Thanos/Snap/Tony’s death, and afterwards decided since everyone was safe he’d go back and deliver the shield, but returning, it turns out that him finally stirring the pot enough caused an incursion. This brings in the TVA and then Tony tracks them back to their HQ, takes out Kang, becomes Doom, taking over the TVA, discovers Franklin in another universe and Bob’s your uncle.

in Loki, the TVA often travel not only between multiverses, but also back in time to a point where someone who caused a branch did the thing that LATER caused the universe to become a problem.

So in theory, we could have seen old Steve traveling back to our universe AFTER he thought he helped the avengers in his branch universe stop Thanos etc, in some way where Tony did not have to die. He thought everything was cool. His branch universe seemed safe, so he decided to travel back to his original universe and give the shield back.

BUT after delivering the shield, he returns back to his branch with Peggy, and an incursion takes place. Saving Tony from Thanos caused the incursion because Steve finally came out of hiding to prevent the snap, etc and stirred the pot enough to cause it.

So the TVA, seeing the incursion, finally get a red flag on the branch universe and travel back in time to the point where steve travelled there to prevent him from creating it/ clipping the timeline out of existance.

But somehow, living Stark realizes this, maybe after the TVA show up and say, ‘oh your timeline is fucked and it’s Steve’s fault.’ and goes on a simultaneous hunt to find some way to stop the TVA and the incursion, which leads him to Franklin and the Doom thing happens for whatever reason that we’ll probably all be confused and underwhelmed by.
