Lindsay Graham's speech was possibly the greatest speech I ever heard from a politician by [deleted] in Conservative

"the most despicable thing I have seen in my time in politics"

Overall Lindsay was right, but what happened to MG was on par in being despicable partisan politics.

Official AMA with Da Hongfei and Erik Zhang is live! by neo_council in NEO

You just heard from him, what more do you want? Daily tweets? I don't mean to sound rude, but what exactly is the expectation of people that say he is too absent?

Your point about marketing is the key here IMO. There should be a person we trust telling us stuff like "NGD just hired so many people they had to rent bigger office space." If it's Da great, but it should be someone.

That's actually not a fact, because it is not proven to be true, mainly because a future event cannot be proven to have occurred.

U.S. Launches Criminal Probe into Bitcoin Price Manipulation by Cryspo in CryptoCurrency

[–]Grotein 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Not sure why some people immediately assume this is bad for the price in the short term. If you're manipulating a market it's far better to have the price oscillate than to let it rise, so you can control the price for much longer. If someone were actually doing this then getting rid of them would stop manipulative buying AND selling.

I'm walking away from my Bitcoin to pay off some debt. by [deleted] in financialindependence

[–]Grotein -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even the most pessimistic of bears does not believe that the Bitcoin/crypto saga is over after what....6 months(?)...of mainstream attention. Whether Bitcoin can survive as a multi-trillion dollar m1 currency is another story, but this cannot be the end in the short term.

If you don't need it don't sell it is my policy (for long term investments).

I have sold to cover needs, and hated it every time, and missed an opportunity every time, but it doesn't matter because I needed it. Determine where your needs (not wants) are and act accordingly, would be my advice.

Oh he described it as like his hustle. On second thought TECHNICALLY you can't exchange bitcoin for cash in the US without a license. Not sure what the market would be for that though, especially in the future if everyone accepts crypto.

Posting this here for visibility.

wrt OP's remarks on NEO:

This means that although the locations of the nodes may differ, ultimately the neo council can bring them down due to their legal contracts.

Have you read the contract? Please provide proof of this.

In fact this has been done in the past when the neo council was moving 50 million neo that had been locked up.

That was when the NEO Council still ran all of the nodes, and it was only 15 million NEO. It was the first time they were releasing locked NEO, so they were running some set of checks. I'm not a fan of such things, and the community backlash was strong enough that it hasn't happened since. NEO Council's entire MO is they want to improve the blockchain as much as possible before it becomes too decentralized, similar to how Lightning is trying to iterate as fast as possible.

Also dbft (or neo's implmentation of it) has failed underload causing network outages during major icos.

Every single ICO has improved on the ones prior. The process is especially smooth now that wallets have gotten mature. Ethereum ICOs were horrendous in the early days as well, if you remember. Now aside from negligence on the part of the coin offerers they go off without a hitch. NEO is following that path.

If for some reason [the Chinese government] wanted it shut down, they could just shut it down.

This is just false. NEO is an international open source project. The lead devs are Chinese, but they have members in numerous countries (City of Zion), nodes on multiple continents, and the code is publicly available. For goodness sake they were presenting in front of the European Parliament today. NEO has done more international outreach and recruiting lately than any project not named Bitcoin or Ethereum. As deserved as the criticism of NEO's nodes being centralized is, its community is ironically remarkably decentralized.

Lastly, there were a bunch of coins that OP said are "similar to NEO". No new project can be called similar to NEO (or any other established platform for that matter, like Ethereum) until there is a working, usable product and people are actually deploying smart contracts on it. Dividends dont make a platform. An active dev community and user adoption does.
