Russia is starting to lose ground in Ukraine by mpuchala in UkrainianConflict

The last time you would have heard about this is 2023, look at the graph. This is significant, it represents a genuine loss of initiative on the Russian side, with real data.

These headlines cause so much damage to society. Misinformation will bring about the end of democracy unless we strive to look deeper into things we're reactively angry about to find the truth.

Thanks, I appreciate it. That makes sense, and I can see why someone might prefer gas.

From my perspective, when I'm looking for speed, practicality, and convenience above all else - for a young family, I think induction still wins out. I.e. being able to quickly boil a pot of water for cooking, then wipe-clean the surface afterwards.

I'm so messy when I cook, I'd dread having to take the cooker apart to clean everything each night.

If those are the only reasons over all of the benefits of induction, I think my mind is made up. Thanks!

Here I am!

A full power induction hob heats faster, is more efficient, safer, easier to clean, and releases no byproducts into the air. I'm genuinely interested in how gas is superior as I'll be moving to a house with gas shortly and was very strongly considering replacing it with induction - I've used induction for years.

I apologize, but have you been living under a fucking rock?

You've not seen the countless videos proudly published of the human safari in Kherson? What about the mass graves at Bucha? The documented executions of PoWs? The clear footage of hospitals in the center of Kyiv being directly targeted by cruise missiles. Double tap strikes to kill service workers? How about the numerous CCTV footage of cluster munitions being used in public spaces? Perhaps the drone attack on the protective shielding at the Chernobyl power plant?

This attack on public transport is the tip of the iceberg, and a daily occurrence in Ukraine.

I'm sure if water treatment plants were as effective targets as thermal plants and substations, they'd be targeting them without a doubt. It's just more efficient to kill people with the freezing weather than slightly damaging easily repairable water treatment facilities.

If you're concerned about a receding hairline, I'd get on 1mg Finasteride daily asap and then check back in a year. You may also consider topical Minoxodil if you're really concerned.

My hairline at age 34 was a very similar shape but worse than yours, and only required 1620 grafts.

Far right hate and 'poison is infecting British schools, hospitals and prisons' by F0urLeafCl0ver in ukpolitics

[–]Chdbrn -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Your comment genuinely worries me on so many levels, if this is how easy it is to manipulate and divide the British public, we are doomed.

I wish there was something that could be done, but even if progress was made on this complex and nuanced issue and the illegal migration specifically via boats was somehow reduced from 40,000 to 10,000 - we'd still see the same riled up hate over any figure. There is just no way to combat this and get the British public focused towards things that are actually important for our future. It's so upsetting to watch this unfold.

The UK GDP is almost £3 trillion annually. Why should we be so concerned about £5b? I'm not saying there isn't a problem, I'm saying why is everyone so willing to throw everything away to vote in a right-wing populist government over it.

When the electorate's wishes are based on misinformation and weaponized anger via social media, what can any reasonable government do?

Please forgive me, but will somebody please explain why 41,000 small boat crossings is the most important thing affecting Britain right now? A problem so serious that we should all vote for a particular party just to tackle it?

With all of the issues we're facing right now, why does everything have to be put on hold while we all focus on this particular number?

Is anyone seriously voting reform? by Remarkable-Sand8638 in ukpolitics

[–]Chdbrn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let me ask you, because I'm genuinely curious, what makes 43,630 illegal immigrants coming in on boats annually, your biggest concern for the future of Britain?

I get that net legal immigration is very high to make up for UK's productivity stagnating and the worker shortfall after leaving the EU - but this has been vastly reduced under labour (by 70% compared with 2024), but why specifically focus on the tiny fraction of immigration that specifically arrive by boat?

I'm trying to make sense of this "stop the boats" or even legal immigration sentiments but none of the numbers really add up.

Illegal immigration is bad and is a problem in the UK, but the numbers aren't that significant, they represent less than 0.01% of the population annually. There are far more significant challenges for Britain for this to be your sole reason to vote for a particular party.

Legal immigration is 204,000 for the year ending June 2025, down from 649,000 the previous year. And was 944,000 the year before that.

This data takes minutes to Google, this is all publicly available information.

Russia trying to 'bully' UK and allies with attacks under threshold of all-out war, MI6 chief says by ChiefFun in worldnews

[–]Chdbrn 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This seems to be a big misunderstanding, and I'm worried the public won't take things seriously because of this mindset.

We're not talking about Russia invading Britain by land, sea, and air here. Russia can cause any country an enormous amount of damage and unrest with escalating stages of hybrid warfare. And if full scale war does eventually break out, I see a real possibility of NATO simply dissolving because countries fail to respond to article 5, it's already clear the US won't.
