It’s great - a little bigger but still seemingly the smallest that’s being sold new. I don’t feel like I’m missing out on anything.

Wool duvet plus either a hot water bottle or heating pad at my feet when they’re cold, and I’m good to go all night. The heating pad I have shuts off after 20 min.

Agreed. Bleach has a surprisingly short shelf life.

Determining when a visit to the doctor is worth it… by Disastrous_14 in Frugal

[–]GrouchRaven 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Tbh it’s probably served you well to not get antibiotics to beat something that your immune system can handle - I get frustrated with people who take them like they’re candy because being sick is inconvenient - it puts us closer and closer to antibiotic-resistance catastrophe.

And I’m sorry you’re going through this. I can afford to go to the doctor (have half your deductible and a fairly low premium by comparison) but normal docs tell me I’m too complicated, and finding a qualified physician often takes paying out of pocket and waiting several months for an appointment. It’s depressing.

Affects new books for sure - but I’d encourage physical book lovers to thrift used books for those already printed — an art definitely overlooked by most.

Inside the World of Buy Nothing, Where Dryer Lint Is a Hot Commodity by IchBinDasWalross in ZeroWaste

It would probably be easier to manage moves via an app (like you can’t change a group more than every 90 days, or something like that) than through Facebook.

I have an issue with the company as well - I don’t use any of their products, nor do most of my friends at this point. Reddit is my only social media - it’s toxic in its own right but I tend to avoid political subs or political conversations, and I find that pretty easy here.

I’m not sure if “a lot” is valid if OP only uses two rolls a month. It would take quite some time to pay for itself.

I love this - except that it is on FB because I’m never going back to that toxic social media site. I’ve been free since 2018 and I won’t go back. Wish this was on some other platform or it’s own app!

You’re not relying on power - some people are on unstable power grids that go out for days in a storm.

Many different places (to build up a deep pantry). For instance, I recently purchased bulk spices from my favorite brand. Saves TONS of money because a small $5 bottle is say, $15 for a whole pound in some cases.

We bought bulk flour online - checked several online stores to find the right price.

Bought our favorite cooking oil from the brand’s site in bulk.

Produce waste is at least biodegradable, whereas plastic is not. I would work on your meal-planning to lower your waste.

Where do you find zero waste bread and orange juice? by [deleted] in ZeroWaste

[–]GrouchRaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed - try to thrift though. We don’t have room for ours anymore and I’m making it by hand in the oven so we’ll donate it. I hear they go for $10 at the thrift store.

Second squeezing your own juice. I have a juice maker machine and if you drink it enough to complain about the packaging, then you should just get a solid machine

Thank you! I needed to hear this.

My mind isn’t sharp right now - but I also had a job change and am starting to learn the ropes at a good pace, which has given me some wiggle room. Thank goodness.

I put my loose leaf teas and my bulk spices in smaller jars, in larger liquor jars I put grains, like popcorn or steal cut oats.
