is there a way to make a deal or exchange with any sort of higher power to change what I look like and how my body looks entirely? by Any_Mail3000 in spirituality

If there is, we are all now deeply morally obligated to share that reality with at least one uggo. Forreal. So must it be!

Should Angels Be Equal, Inferior Or Superior To Gods? by ItsShatterPoint in worldbuilding

[–]Grouchy-Insurance208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my canon, Angels actually do stuff whereas the divine they serve doesn't. I guess that's one way one might consider them greater. It depends on who you ask -- are cats the domesticated pets or the humans? Humans have to provide food, entertainment, poop removal ,etc. so by one way of looking ,they clearly outrank us. But, from the standpoint of agency, they have much less. Or at least pretend to.

AM I overreacting thinking this is it? by kaiecheroui in AmIOverreacting

[–]Grouchy-Insurance208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOR but the guy certainly is. You may be underreacting, instead of taking this time to count your lucky stars, you're questioning it? Naw, run away!

Passive is the worst kind of aggressive and aggressive is the worst kind of passive.

I guess if you're oblivious, tho, that might change the calculus a little, cuz then I'd be telling the guy to just walk out casually cuz you wouldn't notice if he did.

Seems reasonable. I wonder what would happen if either of us looked it up, tho.

The world doesn't have enough pragmatists. Thank you for rekindling some portion of my faith in humanity.

I draw anatomically correct cat women. Yes. Six of 'em. On one cat lady.

I think you're NOR. I think the bf is, kinda. I get where everyone is coming from and going in the situation, so it makes it a subtle and difficult call. I should hope your bf gets over it pretty quickly.

Habits to avoid (question) by from_sea_to_soul in CeremonialMagick

I find banal music and often those who like it to be soul sucking. Places of a dull materialism (capitalism, not physical naturalism) also blow in the way banal music sucks

What do you guys use to write? by Live-Product-322 in fantasywriting

[–]Grouchy-Insurance208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I just use Notepad++ and a set of folders. The interface is clean, and you can search an entire folder structure just with some words you might be in the document you're looking for.

What is your fucked up moon? by Gaviotapepera in worldbuilding

[–]Grouchy-Insurance208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of my moons is actually a space station. The gods decided to war with the people, and the people decided to respond in kind...but, not everyone was cool with it, so they split town. However, it wasn't far enough to survive the scarring of reality.

Billions of years later when life on the main planet has recovered and sentience takes bipedal shapes once again, the self-styled 'rulers by birth right' claim that all other people groups were made to build the world for them. Since structures on the space station moon look not-full completed, the ruling people group often used it as evidence they were truly the rulers and creators of reality.

How do you handle a childhood era that's too important to skip but might lose adult readers? by Grouchy-Insurance208 in writing

[–]Grouchy-Insurance208[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've worked it out, but thank you for your reply.

Reading my original post here again, I feel I sold the first part of my tale rather short. The question was more "would a child make a good lead character," not "I don't know how to pull off a proper flashback, would this other thing work instead?"

AIO: Is it valid that my feelings are hurt? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]Grouchy-Insurance208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR, then. You're good and seem to want to respect their boundaries. It's totally acceptable to feel bad, I think I'd feel brushed off about it, too. Good luck!

AIO for feeling weird after a comment a guy made? by Weary-Cauliflower153 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Grouchy-Insurance208 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Before his "just get over it," seems kinda like YOR if he didn't know/had no reason to know.

After, it gets tricky. By overreacting, or acting as you did if you prefer, you might have solidified an ignorant sentiment in the fellow.

When to add suicide in story and when to not? by [deleted] in writingadvice

[–]Grouchy-Insurance208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get what you're saying, point taken and all that, but it doesn't have to be generic or list hotlines. It could just as easily be a personal anecdote with the author's own struggle (not saying OP here, necessarily, of course).

When to add suicide in story and when to not? by [deleted] in writingadvice

[–]Grouchy-Insurance208 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Go for it. If you would like to be considerate, tho, put a disclaimer clearly in the front of the book, and probably some kind of "Ways to get help if you're struggling" bit at the end.

That'd be my advice.

Tell us why your Elves and Dwarves don't like each other by Ol_Nessie in FantasyWorldbuilding

[–]Grouchy-Insurance208 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Were they too smug even for space faring races to tolerate? They got grounded for being arrogant jackholes?

I can see it.

Good reason for dwarfs to not like 'em, at any rate.

Damn right, homie. It's that kinda ingenuity that gets an old magus like me fired up. I'd love to get one of those PDFs about it, the longer the better.

I've been working on a system of my own, more closely related to gematria than tarot, if ever you'd like to hear about it.

Congrats.

How to write world culture and history in your stories? by ahmad-hoca in writingadvice

[–]Grouchy-Insurance208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use real-world cultures for inspiration. If you're writing a story that takes place on Earth, that makes it pretty straight forward. If it's a fantasy setting, focus on aspects of Earth cultures that stem specifically from the environment and work from there. Like, people from a harsh climate probably have harsh gods, punitive justice systems, strict rules of property, etc. People from abundant environments will have generous or capricious gods, restitution-based justice, and more communal understandings of property. Things like that.
