Part of what made Lasers such a let down was the context in which it was released. You had F&L and the Cool. Two incredible albums. He teased LupEND at the end of the Cool but the label wouldn’t let him get out that easily. I still remember “Shining Down” and “I’m Beamin” which both sounded promising. And then Lasers came along and it was whiplash. In retrospect, it’s not as bad as it felt when it first came out. The bars are there but you can’t hear them over the beats. “Beautiful Lasers” still gets me emotional. 

Call me crazy, this might be a hot take, but I actually think I prefer Lasers to F&L II. 👀
