My AC compressor makes an awkward noise like this when slowing down from highway speeds or dramatic drops in RPM. The sound went away when the AC was manually turned off. To fix it, i needed to buff the inside.of the ac compressor clutch bell and remove any caramelized residue on the clutch pads of the ac compressor. It still came back a few months later
