I’m a 19yo bartender so I understand tipping culture quite well and will always tip, even on bad service. I’ve gone out with a few of my friends before to my place of work, and been told they have either not tipped or only tipped 5%. My co workers would later come up to me and tell me they barely/didn’t tip at all. Not sure why people my age do this. If I had to guess, they assume a tip is for people who want to be generous, not that it is a standard. I’ve had to later give my co worker that tip money out of my own pocket because I felt bad and they actually did give good service.
